What is everyone NOT going to miss after sleeve?

Me three! No more 4x scrubs to wear for work!

the new scrub company we have does not even carry a 4x so it was either a tight 3x or a loose 5x. So guess which one I wore. Soon I'll have to fight over he larges and x-larges like every one else.

I won't miss:

lying about my weight on my driver's license, carpooling in a two-door vehicle and stressing whether I'm going to get stuck getting into and out of the back seat, being on an elevator full of people and hoping that it doesn't lurch because I know they'll automatically think its because of me, fearing fire drills at work because it requires walking down four flights of stairs and then walking another two blocks to the meeting place, checking the window before I leave work everyday to see if the path is clear to the parking garage so no one will see my face turning red and my gasps for breath.

What I want to do:

Take a spinning class, get down on my hands and knees without worrying whether I can get up again, get up to go to the bathroom in a crowded movie theater without worrying that my butt is hitting everyone in the face as I squeeze by, feel confident that I have a better average chance of surviving a zombie apocalypse because I can actually run now! :-)

. You had me laughing! Yup it's all true!!

Hi my list is pretty much the same as everybody else's I'd like to add not being invisible in stores where they ask everybody if they need anything while I'm ignored or having ppl say rude things to me such as "u must know where all the good restaurants are" or that I don't deserve a raise at a my job I've had for 12 years " because I'll probably just eat it" or having drs tell u if u weren't fat u wouldn't have any problems or having the medical staff talk about u and make fun of u as if u can't hear them and so many more similar stories I could give so many examples

Like others, I have been told I would be so pretty if I just lost weight and one man I knew said " What is the matter with you?? Why would someone so beautiful, let themselves get so overweight". Yeah, I won't miss that. It is as if people feel they have the right to point out your weight flaws!

If I hear one more time "But you have such a pretty face!" I. Will. Throw. Up. Your post reminds me of the fact that being overweight is obvious, but these people that say such things, they have a different kind of ugliness. It's on the inside, and that's not something that surgery can correct. I remind myself of this and those are the people that even when I'm thin I will steer clear of. That hatefulness and negativity is something that I never want to be a part of.

Oh man, there are SO many things I won't miss......

From not having to buy bras engineered by German structural engineers to not sweating at the slightest movement to not being called Princess Fiona or Pixie-Anne Wheatley (you have to be an Aussie to get that one ;) )

But the big one for me at the moment is not feel shame every time I have to weigh in when travelling on the small planes I have to fly on for work purposes. They run on a weight-fuel ratio, so all passenger and luggage are weighed and then you're allocated a seat accordingly - which happens to always be the back seat of the plane.

So, I'm looking forward to a) not being the fattest on board and being stuck in the fatty-boom-bah seat and B) not getting evil looks from the guys who are really tall and envious of my leg room by the back door!!! My dream to get seat 1A!!!! Keep an eye on those pilots - make sure we don't become and episode of Air Crash Investigation!!!

Bring on Wednesday, 22/10.

OMG Rozzie...you are one funny lady! So glad you're on here. I need a good laugh like that from time to time!

i am NOT going to miss having a huge back or odd shape! i am also NOT going to miss all of the pain on my knees and ankles from carrying around an extra mini person!

i want to really be able to enjoy walking as exercise after surgery! just put on my music and GO--and SEEING the results of the exercise, instead of doing it and still being overweight a year later.

Another thing I won't miss is asking for a seat belt extender from the airplane stewardess.

i always got around that by wearing yoga pants. I would buckle the belt under my tummy and let the rest flop over it. Lol. How about me not having to do that again.

It just dawned on me that I've been following this thread but hadnt actually answered the question. So here goes:

I wont miss...

  • Not being the right type of BBW (Big beautiful women). Most guys who like BBW's want the ones with big booty.
  • Being the fat girl in the group of slim or normal sized women.
  • Being invisible or ignored by the opposite sex.
  • Being told "you're pretty for a fat girl"...or "you're cute but...."
  • Being judged by how I look on the outside and not by who I am on the inside
  • Being LIMITED to plus size clothing. Dont get me wrong, plus sized clothes are cute but sometimes I see things in regular sizes that I really wanna buy.
  • Not being able to look in the mirror because I HATE my shape. The back fat and upper butt fat HAS TO GO!
  • Being home alone on weekends and watching everyone on Instagram and Facebook go out on dates or get married
  • Getting nervous about weight requirements for things like horseback riding or ziplining.
  • Feeling like my health is gonna fade me and that Diabetes and High blood pressure are inevitable.
  • Worrying that I may never have children due to PCOS complications
  • Not being able to jog (even though I really want to) because I feel so heavy, have knee pain, and Asthma.
  • Lastly, I will not miss failing at weight loss over and over again. I know that VSG is only a tool and that I will have to work hard for real results and I am ready. NO MORE FAILURE. NO MORE EXCUSES!

Went to a concert in August and couldn't fit in seat and had to request a change. How embarrassing that was. Luckily I was with my sister! I won't miss that!

I also won't miss not being able to shave my legs with a belly that gets in the way!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
