Fitness ball

Recommended Posts

I got a fitness ball for my birthday today, and I just attempted my first workout. I had trouble with it rolling around while I was doing my exercises. Is this normal or do I have it overinflated?

Hi! I have never been able to keep my balance on a standard exercise ball, but I have a bosu ball and LOVE it - it's amazing! It's basically half of an exercise ball. There are so many things you can use it for, but I mainly do abs on mine.

fitness ball for birthday

@@tyt221b

ahhhhh man, i missed your b'day??

happy belated

hope you had a great day :)

i wanted to take you out for a couple of drinks

i was gonna buy :o

Water of course

like @@coastalchic - i also have trouble keeping my balance on the ball

had a trainer a couple of years ago, he showed me how to use the ball

i didn't like cuz i was scared/nervous (scaried pants!!!) about the ball rolling from under me

but....i was much heavier at the time - maybe i could do it better now??

"kindof" like using a bicylcle pump to fill your tire

not sure when you should stop filling it, might be too little air - but of course don't want to overfill and go pop!!!!

maybe like goldilocks and the 3 bears - one was too soft one was .too hard - etc..etc ;)

can you have someone show you exactly how to use

ball for situps sound good :)

sure there are other things too!!

you've lost 67 lbs!!!!

keep up the good job :)

good luck :)

congrats

kathy

The ball is going to roll around because you are probably not used to using your stabilizer muscles to keep you stable. I like to do my ab work on the ball because I feel like I get a better range of motion than abs on the floor. But you will find all of your small muscles in your legs and sides and abs working hard to keep you stable. Give it time!

Look on Amazon.....you can buy a base for the ball. It keeps it stabalized. I have two different sizes and both sit on the base.

Hi!

Id suggest letting some air out, just enough so that its still firm and bouncy but has more give when you lie/sit on it. that should make it easier to balance on while you get the hang of it! As you learn to use your body to stabilize yourself better you can gradually pump more air in. Fitness/yoga balls are so awesome, and fun! I used to use one instead of a computer chair at home lol. Crunches feel so much better on them and there are soooo many more exercizes and stretches you can do with a ball that make you feel so aware and in control of your body. Happy birthday, what a wonderful gift! Have fun :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
