PuraVida37 715 Posted September 13, 2014 When I was banded just under a year ago, I didn't really pick a weight goal. That didn't hold any interest for me. Instead I picked a physical challenge goal: running a 5k. I did it today!!! I RAN THE WHOLE THING WITHOUT STOPPING!!! I had my best time too!!! It's only going to get better from here!! My next goals are: --making it to 100lbs loss (soon, I think!! Only 10 lbs to go) --finishing a 5k in less than 40min (today's was 42) --doing a headstand (IDK why, it just seems cool?) --getting to size L (I'm XL now) A friend invited me to do a mini-triathalon with her next April. I think I just might do it!!!!

HealthyNewMe 1,935 Posted September 13, 2014 I love your FITNESS GOALS...... I always wanted to be a "runner." Problem is I can't seem to run...... I look like a DUCK...... But, I'm an ELLIPTICAL guru.......So, I modified my fitness goal to complete a 5K, 10K, and half-marathon on the elliptical. Not the same, but still an achievement. Best wishes as you continue to reach YOUR GOALS!

Bandista 7,466 Posted September 13, 2014 Vida, so happy for you! Today I did my first 5K so a banner day all-around. It was such a big deal to be part of something like that, out in that world, etc. My time was just under 48 -- I fast-walked (leggy). You are doing splendidly. Imagine a while back any one telling us we'd be like this!

Bandista 7,466 Posted September 14, 2014 @@PuraVida37 you'll be standing on your head in no time! That's such a fun goal. I'm going to out kayaking on my list. Was afraid before I wouldn't be able to get out of the thing! Still not sure but something for next summer.
pink dahlia 2,513 Posted September 14, 2014 Well, you're just amazing wrapped up in awesomeness , now are'nt you ??? Way to go ! I love the fact that your goal was a thing , not a number on the scale ! Congratulations !
PuraVida37 715 Posted September 14, 2014 Thanks everyone! @Bandista I got to kayak on a lake this summer. It was great! I was a little scared too, but I did it! In the past, I would have been too scared and never even thought of it. I'm sick of feeling scared. The band is helping me be braver. This summer I jet skied, kayaked, jumped off the diving board at the public pool (almost chickened out, but people cheered me on!), and did a bunch of 5Ks. I even broke up a fight while I was out jogging!! If you only live once, well then I'm gonna make the most of it and go out with a bang!! #YOLO

MarieMarie 346 Posted September 23, 2014 Getting clothes on to go out dancing on the weekend and finding out you have to change as everything is getting loose is fun. Having more stamina is fantastic.
