Welcome aboard! I'm new too... my date is Monday, 9/15. What are your worries and concerns?

I'm trying to figure out how to Celebrate my 40th birthday without it being food centric. (October birthday )

I'm in CT! I'm nervous about the liquid diet lol. I know it sounds silly but I'm just concerned about handling cravings while feeling hungry. When I was 18 I had surgery on my intestines and the healing was almost the same as it will be with the sleeve surgery. So I'm not too worried about that part it's just the pre-OP things I'm concerned about.

Im also concerned about cravings.. Not so much the actual surgery or even the pain after just the liquid diet...

Hi and welcome!! I am having surgery Monday September 15th. Don't be worried about the liquid diet. It is a task but you will overcome it. My first day was pretty hard but it's mostly a mental thing. But you will be fine :)

Hi Alexsis! I'm getting sleeved 9/15 and am an October baby too! I'll be 36 on 10/23.

My big worry is the surgery itself. I've never been "put under."

Blessings to you on your journey:).

Had my sleeve on Wed Sept 10. Got home on Thursday and was not a good night. I thought to myself over and over if I did the right thing. It gets better every day like 10%, slowly it really does get better. You gotta have pain meds when you go home and push for nausea meds in case. The worst part IMO has been the stomach exit incision pain. It's very, very sore. Get used to sleeping on your back! Walk, walk, walk! ;)

Good luck everyone!

My surgery is 9/26! Does anyone know if we're going to be on a strict, liquids-only diet two days prior to surgery? I can barely stand the two shakes, salad and Protein right now. I feel like I'm starving! I lost five and a half pounds in three days! What is the purpose of this strict diet now? I don't understand why it has to be under 800 calories a day . . .

Luana, the stomach is located behind the liver sorta. The dr would like your liver to shrink so it's easier to navigate around it making the surgery safer for you. Be glad, I didn't even get one real small meal. I was on two weeks of all liquids only. I lost 10 lbs in two weeks.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
