I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and work hard to get my 60 grams of Protein every day. I was curious, how many calories are you all consuming each day?

Is anyone on MFP?

I think a lot of us are on MFP... At 2-4 weeks out I was only getting around 300-400 calories a day. Now I'm 3 months and average between 600-800. Don't worry too much about calories, just try to get that Protein in. It is really hard to do but will get easier. Don't stress too much... it gets better.

I agree with the above statement try and focus on getting in your Protein and Water I am almost 4 months post opt and I am only getting in 800- 900 calories per day and my doctor says that i am doing great as long as I am not tired or for weak i am ok, i work out 5 days a week and get in between 80-100 grams a Protein per day as well as 64 ounces of Water or more , you will see as you get further along it gets easier. And you will begin to feel great as the weight comes off you will have more energy. Congrats on your choice to be healthy and welcome to the losers bench. Keep us posted. I am on fitness pal but do not know how to add people.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
