My surgery went awful. I lost so blood that i had to get admitted to the hospital. I kept passing out and busting my head so ive had a blood transfusion so far. Been in this hospital for abt three days now

I am sorry you are going through this. You are in my thoughts. Keep your chin up and take care of yourself!

My surgeon said I could resume sexual relations as soon as I felt up to it. He suggested being mindful of the positions I chose so I did not put pressure on my healing stomach.

I was given the same instructions about sex but I wasn't up to it for about 3 weeks because I was so so exhausted.

Let me start by saying not many ppl know about my upcoming surgery, only family and close friends. Today someone I considered to be a close friend said to me "I hope you don't die on the table", during a brief conversation we had relating to my surgery. I was shocked, upset and just plan blown away. I am thinking that was crazy for her to say. Am I just being overly sensitive or was that extremely inconsiderate of my feelings?

Rfriends, I am sorry that person said that to you. I heRd the same sort of thing myself before surgery. People kept telling me horror stories about weight loss surgery. Well I didnt listen to them. I am doing just fine. You will do great.

Thanks for the encouragement. NUT said relations with food and ppl would change during this process, but I never thought it would be her. She was all for me when I started this 6 months, now that my date set, she is really changing. Making comments like "your gonna be too skinny', "guys like girls with meat on their bones", etc. I think it's time for me to distance myself asap.

That was rude and inconsiderate. Even if they felt that way, why would you say that out loud to someone getting ready to have surgery? Did they think that would help with any pre-surgery jitters? Sheesh! Some people really do not think. I am sorry you experienced that. Please know the mortality rate is relatively low. Try comparing that to the mortality rate from complications due to the various co-morbidities that come with being morbidly obese.

You will be fine. It's a quick and easy surgery that will change your life for the better.

Yes it may be time to reevaluate some relationships. I'm doing the same thing I am almost 5 months out and I'm getting a few "too skinny to have around their men" comments. Of course it's only folks who never knew me as skinny so now I know they only kept me around to make themselves feel better. I don't have time to help anyone with self-esteem issues. They can keep it moving. You don't need the extra stress or negativity especially while your trying to better yourself. Good luck and God bless

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
