Hello all, I'm getting sleeved this morning. Any last minute tips or things to bring? :)

Take minimum belongings to the hospital. I took a large pair of panties to wear home, a toohbrush, my iPhone, IPad & charger. I was started on colace stool softener and omeprazole for acid in the hospital.

Walk ASAP. I walked in recovery. I experienced no gas at all. really try to gauge your pain level. I was sore like after a good work out, not really in pain. I didn't use the morphine pump. I think it helped me stay clear headed enough to walk more in the hospital. However do not try to be a hero, if you need pain meds, use them. Go slow when sitting up. It will ease any uncomfortableness and make it less likely that you will get dizzy or nauseous.

Mostly stay positive. This is an easy surgery! Welcome to the loser's bench!

I started off with two bags and then I merged to one. I have my Note 3, Note tablet, charger, underwear, gown, and toiletries. I was prescribed omeprazole following my EGD so I brought that with me too. My anxiety has went down, I'm just worried about the gas pain. I've heard alot of horror stories about it. My plan is to start walking as soon as they allow me to.

They'll likely have you in a hospital gown so you probably won't get to use yours. For walking they'll give you another gown to wear backwards. Don't worry about the gas pains. Not everyone gets them. I had none.

@@tomi71, is you read other threads on this site, people who experienced Hair loss noted the hair grew back.

I did see that. I went ahead and took the plunge and got a pixie to cut away all the unhealthy hair. So far so good and I am no longer shedding!

Quick update ladies.. I'm now 3 days post op. I'm supposed to be getting discharged as soon as my doc makes his rounds around 10am. This hospital has made me feel incredible after surgery... I call it a "boutique" hospital. They only have 20 beds and the nurse to patient ratio is 3 to 1. They're making me walk every hour on the hour and I have to take my sips right on time. They're making me do cough productively and also the diaphragm training thing. I'm no longer on the morphine pain pump but instead they're giving me loratab for pain and a shot of heparin in my stomach for blood thinking. I'm still hooked up to an iv for potassium and every once in a while they give me some to prevent ulcers as well. Sorry for rambling... I'm just so excited right now and had to come tell you guys about my experience. I just had my first couple of toots as well lol but they weren't stinky. I'm dying for a shower but they said I can't until the doc makes rounds.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
