Hi I have finished my 5 behavior modification classes, met with nutrition 2 times, physical therapist 2 times, attended a support group and did all my required medical testing. Needed to lose only 11 pounds pre surgery and was there but when I was weighed a my last appointment I was up 4 pounds. This was so disappointing, but I was offer an appointment to come back in 2 weeks. Determined to lose the weight I asked for an appointment in 10 days. I am paying more attention to my diet and have exercised longer. I hope to get an appointment with the surgeon at my next appointment. Wish me luck.

You are doing great!.. I think the last few pounds are the hardest. Your surgery day will be here before you know it. Keep up the great work!

In the same boat

Hi. Just wanted to let you know, Im right with you. Ihad to lose 23 # pre surgery. Ive lost all but the last 4 to 6#. I see the doc. The 25th. I had lost it all and ended up having to take steroids for a bad sinus infection. Well they make you ravenously hungry and I gained some back. Hope we both make our weight and get things rolling to our new lives.

Yep, I do know those steroids well. I have a herniated disk on my spine and take those every once in a while. Boy of boy, watch out, those pills make you so very hungry. But this is just a little old stone on your path. Kick it and keep going.

Thanks a lot. I think I've made it now. I've lost exactly 10% by my scale, first thing in the morning, and naked. Hopefully the insurance company will allow for the weight of my clothes. Any ideas?

I saw the NP an I lost the 4 pounds I was up and lost a total of 9 pounds in 9 days. So I'm 5 below my pre surgery goal weight. I exercised twice a day for 60-80 minutes each time and it paid off. I have an appointment with the surgeon on Tuesday am. Can't wait. Debbiesp01@gmail. Com I would wear the lightest clothes to your next weigh in. Such as shorts. I always whore the same type of clothes to my weigh ins and the NP even said something about me being cold cuz of what I had on. I told her I wanted to make sure I had the same type of clothes on for the weigh in. I hope this might help you. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
