SURGERY ON TUESDAY!

Recommended Posts

Well..All the waiting is finally over! Tuesday 6:30 A.m. I report to the surgery center. Not really sure how I feel right now. Mostly excited about changing my life, but still not sure really wrapped my head around all of this yet.

I'm mostly concerned about the loose skin. I lost 100 pounds two years ago but I lost that way very slowly. No issues with skin being loose then. I have made at least one trip to the gym and talk things over with a trainer. Planning to go and develop a program with the trainer so I can follow it daily and hopefully avoid the loose skin.

Anyway here goes nothing! Wish me good luck!!!!

As far as loose skin I was freaking out about it also, but so far so good. I also lost 120 lbs. slowly before and had no loose skin, and this time I am down 105 lbs. so far with no loose skin issues so far.

Thanks bellalulu, Taylor, & SoCal. Appreciate the best wishes. It's been one hell of a day. Surgery is done! Just trying to get my heart rate higher and my BP to drop.

Surgery was a blur. Once the anesthesia hit I was out cold!!!

Feeling ok so far. Good drugs!! Got up and took a walk and will take another before night is up.

So far so good!!!

The more you can walk the better you will feel. Hard to believe when you are there but true.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
