Problems integrating new foods and constant nauseaa

Recommended Posts

Had my surgery on 7/15 of 2014. I am losing weight, however I am struggling with nausea and vomiting. I also have a lot of trouble integrating new foods into my diet. The other problem I have is dizziness and overall weakness. I am very concerned that I will never return to health and that maybe the sleeve was a mistake for me. I just want to feel better. This situation is making me very depressed at times.

What kind of surgery did you get? Are you getting enough Water and Protein? According to my NUT instructions, when you introduce new foods, only try one new food that day and a very tiny amount-- 1 or 2 thimblefuls.

If that doesn't help, I suggest you call your surgeon's office.

I have had a lot of problems with nausea too. I was sleeved on October 27. That's almost 6 weeks ago and I can't keep anything but Water and hot tea down. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello my brother had the sleeve October 20 and has been in and out of the er he is nauseous and throws up constantly can't keep any food down. I am so sad for him he was overall healthy just over weight he regrets every moment of having the surgery it has made him unhealthy and depressed and he is in fear that he is going to die. They have him in meds for pain and nausea but nothing is helping him. I am scared for him will this pass they checked every thing and can not find any complications which I am thankful for is this just something you go through or is it going to be life long? I am so worried for him any information that any one can share would be amazing. God bless all of you and I pray those who are suffering from complications a speedy recovery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
