Protein Powder Struggles - I found relief

Recommended Posts

I am just over 2 weeks post-op and have really struggled to get all my Protein in because I dislike the taste of the Protein Drinks and powder. So I ordered a powder recommended on one of the boards and it arrived yesterday. I love it! At 11 am, I already have 67g of protein. I had one scoop in my V-8 and a second scoop in my Crystal Light. I can't taste it nor did it change the texture of the drink. It's called GENEPRO and I ordered it directly from the manufacturer. post-224339-14104486489596_thumb.jpg

I agree with you. This Protein has been a huge life saver for me! I was skeptical that it was really tasteless, but it is! I love that I can add it to hot coffee too. I read about it here then did research online to make sure the claims were for real. I bought mine at Amazons.

I had my surgery (RYGB) on Mon, Aug 25. I was having the same problems with the Protein powders! YUCK! I too saw a post about this Protein Powder that you mentioned. It came in this week and it really is the way it is described-- odorless, tasteless, no clumping, and can be mixed with hot or cold beverages or sprinkled on food. It is so much better than everything else I have tried.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
