Get to your surgeon tomorrow! It will be extremely difficult to get sufficient nourishment for your baby and yourself, but I am sure it can be done.

I'm confused as to how you can be 5 weeks pregnant and also 5 weeks postop. Did they not do a pregnancy test before surgery?

So you're 7 weeks pregnant and 5 weeks postop, okay. Get to your surgeon or ob/gyn immediately - I can't stress that enough. You will need a tremendous amount of help with this and the sooner you get it, the better!

Does that mean you were pregnant when you had the surgery done? The first thing they made me do when I checked in at the hospital was provide them with my urine so that they could test it.

Omg! I hope everything turns out okay! I can't imagine going through a major surgery and being 2 weeks pregnant! I know some pregnancy test can be 2 weeks off! So once they measure the baby you will know exactly how far along you are!

Yeah i know but i had sex the day before my period , and they calculate it from your last period so therefore a woman is really 38 weeks pregnant not 40 but they say 40 but thats where the 2 weeks come from

But they tested me before surgery and it was negative

OMG.... I can't even imagine. How has you eating been? You should also contact an OB... Maybe someone who handles high risk pregnancies.

I read a post on here about a lady being pregnant 3-4 months out and she said she was doing well! I also read one about a lady that have birth and said she gain 20 pounds during the pregnancy and dropped it right after she gave birth w no problem!

Yes... That's the scary part because you are the most restricted in the beginning and that baby needs nutrients.

You have to get the ball rolling with doctors right away. I wish you the best of luck.

I haven't been through surgery yet but during my pregnancy 2 years ago I didn't have an apatite at all. I always felt full. The six months I was prego (she was 3 months early) I gained 10 lbs. so maybe you will will be lucky and not too hungry.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
