letsgetshrunk 9 Posted September 10, 2014 Hello I am five days out from gastric by pass surgery and went in at 249 and after surgery I was up to 267. I am now back down to 259. It takes me four hours to get down a Protein Shake at a time and I sip juice other wise. Anyone know if this is just Fluid weight from the surgery and if so how long before I am at least where I started. Signed, Frustrated
Peggy Jean 41 Posted September 10, 2014 I gained 5 lbs while in the hospital for surgery and ended up going back 2 weeks later with dehydration and gained 8..
James Marusek 5,244 Posted September 10, 2014 When I were in the hospital, I had an I.V. pumping fluids into me during my stay. I gained weight but when I returned home, I shed that (fluid) weight relatively quickly and then began losing significant weight.

The faster you can get your fluids in and as close to 64 oz the better. I found warming my Water and shakes worked best in the early days. juice is generally high in sugar so if there are othe fluids you'll tolerate they would be better. 1 120Cassy reacted to this
