Weird comments, and how to respond!

Recommended Posts

You know what I mean. You run into someone you haven't seen for some time, and they remark on your weight loss, but in a weird way and you're not sure how to take it. I ran into another mom I know from my sons school (as in not a close friend or anything remotely like that) and she noticed the weight loss, asked what I was doing etc. And then she says "oh your husband must love it!"

What?? What do I say to that? That was weird. Like "nah, he likes his ladies large" or "yeah he was packing his bags before I lost the weight". Awkward!!

Your hilarious! I hate when your standing there not knowing what to say??? Like is it ok to be totally sarcastic? Are they really that much of an idiot?

My reply would have been something along the lines of..."He's kind of struggling now, he is a chubby chaser!"

In all seriousness, where do people come up with this stuff? "Your husband must love it!" Like you were unloveable, unattractive, unworthy of attention...Ugh!

Am dying laughing here.

What un-self-aware imbeciles.

That's a social version of Tourette Syndrome.

Shaking my head!

Invite yourself over to her house and wear your cutest, tightest outfit. Let's see if HER husband loves it.

Btw, what an ass she is.

These are the sorts of things that do not require any sort of response. Just heap a healthy side eye and general snarky disdain.

I can't stop laughing because I have run into awkward questions like that. I am extremely sarcastic so usually without hesitation I would say something off the wall and not expected which I love their reaction to it.

"Actually he's always loved me....Now, what lets talk about YOUR body (or marriage)!"

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
