Aetna...What did you do to get approved?

Thanks!!

This process is a bit more complicated as I am living in Australia, but dealing with US insurance as we are working over here. I saw surgeon the beginning of July and started the process, but went home on leave for 30 days so did not start seeing everyone else until I got home the end of Aug. I am having to gather all the paperwork and submit it, rather than a care coordinator as they have a totally different medical system over here than we do at home and do not deal with our insurance directly. Really do not want to mess up the chances I have for approval so trying to make sure I have everything in order. If I do 90 days from when I saw NUT that is the end of November, verses being able to submit in October.

I have Aetna. I was denied due to a 3 pound weight gain. My problem is, I'm right at 35.1 BMI. I am not allowed to lose OR gain. I basically had to maintain. My denial is being reviewed. The Aetna medical director told my dr if I can lose ANYTHING within 4-6 weeks I would be reconsidered. That was 4 weeks ago. I lost the weight. I am on pins and needles waiting to hear back from them! My dr submitted the paperwork Thursday. I called Aetna Friday and I should know something Monday. I will be calling Aetna today (Monday) if I haven't heard from them. I'm so nervous I can't sleep!! ????????

@@Doggirl79 I was actually denied because of weight gain also. I was also told if I lost the weight they would approve me but i still got denied again. Hopefully this doesn't happen to you and you get a quick approval. In the end I did get approved but had to go through an external review. Keep us updated. Good Luck!!

Just had my info submitted monday! I had to do everything mentioned as well. 3 month supervised diet, met with NUT, psych, etc and had a bunch of tests done. Found out I had sleep apnea during testing. It's a lot of appointments.. But the time flew by fast! I lost a total of 25 lbs with the diet and exercise. ..Now I'm just waiting lol. I think this is the worst part!

Can someone help me out

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
