It is a really strange feeling when I eat, all of a sudden I can feel the food drop through my band. I still dont have restriction yet, I have 2.5cc, next fill this week.

Just wondering.........

I guess I don't understand what you mean by no restriction. If you're feeling your food move through the band, I'd say you have some restriction.

Restriction is a very subjective thing. Some need to feel as if they can only eat a few bites before feeling full to believe they have "restriction". Restriction to me only means that you feel satisfied for an extended period of time. My doctor gives an approximation of 2-3 hours. It also means that you feel full with smaller meals, but that's not necessarily meaning that you can only eat a few table spoons. I can eat up to a cup or more and I'm absolutely fine with that. I feel I'm eating healthy portions and making better decision but I can still eat the things that I enjoy (only in reasonable quantities).

I feel things moving through my band if I've eaten a high risk item for me, like bananas or if I've eaten and not chewed well enough. It can be painful depending on the item and the size. I change my position, occasionally hold my arms over my head in a stretch and in extreme cases will take a couple papaya enzyme tables to help break whatever it is up. I have NOTHING, no fill whatsoever in my band and am still losing weight, still feeling good and still doing well.

Everyone's journey is different. Everyone's sensations are different, but if I were you I'd be leery about getting too tight if you're already feeling things move past your band. Being too tight comes with bad side effects. I've been there and am absolutely much MUCH happier being unfilled.

Ddiedre- I wish I had restriction. I really dont. I can still eat as normally as I did before the band. I am trying to eat with the band rules. I stick with my Proteins, but the problem is I dont get full. I stop eating when I believe I have had enough but I do not get full. I could easily eat 3 or 4 cups of food. I just dont do it. I know everyone is different. I am not looking for tablespoons. But statisfaction with one cup of food might be nice. By the way, I have never PB'd ( and hope I never do)

I not only feel stuff going through my band, sometimes I hear it with all the strange noises it makes!

Oh me too! Sometimes the noises are pretty loud too! I also get a gurgling in my throat sometimes.

I was banded on 2/23 and have had 2 fills. After the 1st i had a little restriction and definitely felt that stuck feeling numerous times. I could eat as much as I wanted though and didn't stop or feel satisfied. After fill #2 though, I am very tight. It's so different. I can not eat more than 1/4-1/2 a cup of food. I have realized I need it this way to lose weight. I just eat too much if the band doesn't stop me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
