medicblue13 0 Posted September 8, 2014 I was told I have a thyroid nodule and I have to get a biopsy first. She said the only way it would keep me from getting my surgery is if it was malignant which only 5% are. I have difficulty swallowing and a sore throat constantly. Has anyone else had anything like this come up that has jeopardized your surgery?
SugarFreeMe 293 Posted September 9, 2014 I also have a thyroid nodule. I've had it for 3 years now, they did a biopsy in the beginning which showed it wasn't malignant. Now I go yearly to have comparison scans done. Nothing has changed at all, it was never a problem when considering surgery. Don't stress about it. Even if it were malignant, thyroid cancer is extremely treatable.
angelicHG7 118 Posted September 9, 2014 I also have a nodule and it increased in size in less than a year. My PCM thought it would be an issue for surgery and informed my surgeon. Thankfully he said that it was a separate issue and I can still have surgery and follow up on the nodule afterwards.... which I already planned to do.
