I've seen this question before so it's probably in the archives but my energy level is incredibly low. I've been getting my Protein in more than ever before as well as fluids and still...falling flat in the energy dept. How long does this last until some fashion of normalcy kicks in?

Hi rhfactor. I had the gastric sleeve but it took almost 3 months before my energy really got back to normal. Now I feel great and have lots of energy. I think the time frame may vary from person to person. It will definitely get better. Good luck on your journey.

Thank you, thank you for responding! I was starting to think it was me! Was there anything you did to gain any energy during that time? Or was it more or less a waiting/healing game?

Having same issues with energy! Normally I was fine all day at work - lot of energy - now I just want to fall asleep at my desk! At home I have stairs and it honestly takes everything out of me to make it up the stairs without feeling like I ran a marathon! I am not a person who has ever really had mobility issues, Ive always been a chunky girl - but was not what you would call totally out of shape - so not having ANY energy is really sucking!

Synthroid is medication for hypothyroidism ( I am also taking it and have for years) it doesn't do anything like give you energy - it just helps your thyroid work like it should...

Hope that everyone is right and we all get our energy levels up in next month or so. My family will really appreciate it! I did this to have a better life - one that I can enjoy with my kids..but for now I am more of a hermit than I was before! Once loved to shop but heck I don't have energy to walk around the store!! BUMMER

Are you take Vitamin B12 sublingual? I'm taking 2 a day & I feel better than I ever have. It took me about 4 months after surgery to feel good, but most days I feel I can do anything!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
