HMR14 2 Posted September 8, 2014 I know everyone is different, but do y'all care to share how long you took off work to recover?! This will likely determine when (I want to) schedule my surgery.
Kindle 8,667 Posted September 8, 2014 I had surgery December 20th. I planned to take two weeks off through the holidays so I didn't miss that many days of work. But we got busy so I ended up going back to work on the 27th. It was kind of part time because of the weekend and New Years, but kicked it in full 50+ hour weeks by jan 2. That's the downside of owning your own business . We did have to tweek the schedule a bit though because I couldn't lift more than 20 pounds for 3 weeks. (Which sure was easier to deal with than my partner 's restriction of under 8 pounds for six weeks after her hysterectomy!)
McButterpants 2,846 Posted September 8, 2014 I telecommute full time....I had surgery on Thursday and was back to work the following Monday 1/2 days. I worked a full day on Tuesday. I think if I had to get up every day and get dressed and go into an office I would have taken 2 weeks off. I needed to rest often and take naps and walking made the recovery easier. Best of luck to you!
HMR14 2 Posted September 8, 2014 Thank you both! I'm hoping to get the sleeve sometime during the holidays. I work in higher education so I get a bit longer of a break - fingers crossed!
Sleevarilla 169 Posted September 8, 2014 Surgery on 8/20, my first day back to work is tomorrow, 9/7. I probably could have went back last week though ...
alwaysvegas 702 Posted September 8, 2014 I took two weeks off. However, I had the surgery on a Monday and by Friday I was shopping at a mall. Great recovery time! My energy levels were still somewhat low. I napped quite a bit, so I'm glad I took off the full two weeks.
