I know everyone is different, but do y'all care to share how long you took off work to recover?! This will likely determine when (I want to) schedule my surgery.

I had surgery December 20th. I planned to take two weeks off through the holidays so I didn't miss that many days of work. But we got busy so I ended up going back to work on the 27th. It was kind of part time because of the weekend and New Years, but kicked it in full 50+ hour weeks by jan 2. That's the downside of owning your own business :(. We did have to tweek the schedule a bit though because I couldn't lift more than 20 pounds for 3 weeks. (Which sure was easier to deal with than my partner 's restriction of under 8 pounds for six weeks after her hysterectomy!)

I telecommute full time....I had surgery on Thursday and was back to work the following Monday 1/2 days. I worked a full day on Tuesday. I think if I had to get up every day and get dressed and go into an office I would have taken 2 weeks off. I needed to rest often and take naps and walking made the recovery easier.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you both! I'm hoping to get the sleeve sometime during the holidays. I work in higher education so I get a bit longer of a break - fingers crossed!

I took two weeks off. However, I had the surgery on a Monday and by Friday I was shopping at a mall. Great recovery time! My energy levels were still somewhat low. I napped quite a bit, so I'm glad I took off the full two weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
