Day 3 of liquids & Surgery tomorrow.

Recommended Posts

Don't worry about not being able to sleep, you'll spend enough time sleeping tomorrow! My biggest concern the night before surgery was how I was supposed to provide a urine sample when I got to the hospital, after not bring able to drink for so long, lol. Just get whatever rest you can, and good luck!!

Best of luck to you! Relax today...it will be here before you know it!

After a 2 week pre-op diet, my surgeon gave me the OK to have a real meal the night before. We couldn't believe it. The only restrictions were to not overdue on red meat and no all you can eat buffets (we were in Las Vegas). We thought he was joking! It was a great meal, but not because of the food...it was awesome because we just enjoyed being together. We didn't know what was going to happen the next day, we didn't know if there going to be complications, we didn't know what to expect.

You're going to do great - say "goodbye" to your old lifestyle and hello to a new you tomorrow!

Boston is really different. They give us 2 days of liquids and protien drinks then the day before surgery is just clear. And clear up to 4 hrs before surgery. When I wanted to do this years back it was 3 weeks of CLEARS I'm like whatt? Lol and jeez 4am? How far are you from the hospital. I'd much rather 4am lol

I didn't have to do a liquid diet.< /p>

Today (the day before) I'm on nothing but Clear Liquids and a nice fat 10oz bottle of nasty liquid laxative :/

I was told to take mine at 10am.

I'm not aloud to have anything after midnight. My husband isn't making today easy either.. "I had two cheese burgers, fries a smoothie and I'm still hungry" as he eats a pudding cup with one reserved on the side.

I'm so happy that this liquid diet is ending. But I know I won't be able to sleep tonight :( how do you get through the night before surgery? Should I double my Ativan haha

Good luck on your surgery. I hope it is routine and with no complications. Hoping you have an easy recovery as well. I didn't sleep before surgery but I made up for it after.

Blessings,

Kathleen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
