Just Starting Out - Have a couple of questions

Recommended Posts

Just had my first visit with my surgeon yesterday and have my first visit with the dietitian in 2 weeks. My insurance company does not require any wait time, just when the dietitian and I agree that I am ready. I also have to take the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory - 2 test and meet with a psychologist. Has anyone ever been denied because of a psych evaluation?

Also, do they make you pay the insurance deductible up front or can that be paid over time after the surgery?

Thanks

The psych eval was no problem, it was a 20 minute multiple choice questionnaire! I think every hospital is different about what is paid up front. My program requires the deductible and co-payments to be paid upfront.

My psych evaluations where a joke (all 3) 5 minutes of talking and a co-Pay.. I would not worry about that. I think it is just a safety precaution to make sure we do not have any major issues. I don't have to pay anything up front except co-pays for each visit . I have Aetna You should call your insurance and find out exactly what and how much is covered, and discuss with you doctors office their expectations of when you need to pay.

I paid my deductible on most of the pre-op requirements so I basically everyone money still and am paying them off.

The hospital who did he surgery got the out of pocket coinsurance charged and that maxed me out for the year. I haven't gotten their bill yet but plan on paying them over time as well.

I have about $2600 of my deductible owing to doc and hospital for endoscopy and $3000 coinsurance to hospital who did the sleeve.

Evryone else I have managed to pay off since I've been workings on the all year.

I have $4500 deductible and $4500 coinsurance yearly. So 9,000 total. No way I could have paid any of that up front.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
