cchapman6 6 Posted September 6, 2014 Okay so I live alone so I tend not to cook a lot. Pre surgery my freezer was stocked with pot pies and hot pockets whenever I was feeling hungry I would just eat that. Now now post op I'm having a hard time finding a quick high Protein thing I can make In a snap. I currently have bagel bites the cheese pizza I currently warm up 3 in the oven and just eat the sauce and cheese but not only is this not good for me it also isn't the best tasting either although it does get rid of my pizza craving lol. Any ideas? What do you eat. Also I was sleeved July 23rd and if you were sleeved around the same time or have questions about my journey please feel free to message me. AvaFern 3,516 Posted September 6, 2014 I was sleeved almost a year ago, so I'm not at the same time span as you. Something that really works well for me though is turkey chili. I only started making my own when Panera stopped serving it for the summer, but about once every 2 weeks I make a giant vat of turkey chili, I scoop one big scoop into a quart freezer bag, and I make about 15 meals, which I keep in my freezer. When it's time to cook it, I pull a bag out of the freezer the night before, and by lunchtime it's defrosted. I heat it for about 4 minutes, and it's quite yummy. With the turkey and Beans, it has a ton of Protein, and a serving size is about 150 calories. If you want to feel like you're eating more than you are and you want it to be a little bit fresher than from the freezer, pour a little bit of V8 into the bowl before you microwave it. I eat this almost everyday.
motherof5 364 Posted September 6, 2014 Thanks for the advice. This idea is excellent for single folks, busy moms and people that don't cook much in general. I was thinking the same. I need to have pre-made meals for myself. What do you put in your chilli? Do you use tomatoes or spaghetti sauce?
motherof5 364 Posted September 6, 2014 Fresh is always better but if you are into the frozen meal, try lean cuisine or weight watchers. Okay so I live alone so I tend not to cook a lot. KQH 69 Posted September 8, 2014 I swear by marinated chicken breasts from a nice grocery store. Slap that thing on the Cuisinart Griddler (George Foreman, whatever) and 6 minutes later I have enough for salads and by themselves and so on. I love my crockpot too! katesuccess 990 Posted September 8, 2014 I do chicken thighs (cut in thirds) in my crockpot - two packages at a time! I use whatever healthy sauce-like thing i'm hanking for at the time, and just be sure not to overcook them. Lately I've done them in a large pot in the over which is easier for me to monitor. Anyway, I then put them in 'snack baggies' in 2-2.5 ounce portions, spooning a bit of sauce over each after weighing. They all get labeled with a permanent marker and frozen. I take out whever I feel like for dinner each night - and they're fast and easy mini-frozen meals. Also meatballs (turkey or beef) are great for quick frozen meals. I can take a couple out and weigh them, deciding if it's a 2-ball dinner or three! Add a spoonful of FF gravy or marinara or slice with a bit of melted light cheese and warm up. Soooo easy! Sometimes I buy a big frozen bag of cooked chicken strips too, and pull a few out to weigh up to 2 ounces, and warm them in the microwave. Then I might add some guacamole, salsa, onions, tomatoes, satay sauce, whatever floats my boat that night. Experiment! Oh, and I did buy a packaged already cooked beef potroast the other day, figuring I'd cut it into several meals - Hormel I think. It was tough, fatty, and tasteless - I threw the rest of it out after one meal--so don't bother with that!

You can buy them at Walmart at the deli counter. They are oval shaped and only have 90 calories and 6 net carbs. Just spread a little olive oil all over the Flat out then flip it over and put it in the oven for about 4 minutes. Then take it out and spread a little pizza sauce or salsa, then spread grated cheese and whatever cooked meats or veggies you like. Then cook it a couple more minutes til the cheese melts. It makes the best pizza. My husband has gone crazy over these and he doesn't even have any weight to lose. My kids love them, too. You can also use them to make crackers. Very healthy alternative and tastes very yummy! I can't buy enough. You can Google other recipes. They are very popular! AngPel72 5 Posted September 9, 2014 Light and fit Greek yogurt by Dannon. Get the one with 80 calories and 12 Protein. Peach and raspberry are real good. cheese is low carb with Protein.< /p> Of course, Protein shakes. I like the premier chocolate shake - I buy them at SAMs 12 for $19. Cottage cheese is good. Buy a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store. Usually $5. Can eat it by itself of in stuff (chicken soup). Freeze in individual sized meals and take it out when you need some. It's much better than the pre-made grilled chicken in the freezer section. Hope it helps
Fluffnomore 1,235 Posted September 9, 2014 I will cook a small roast (top round or something like it) and use it for a few days. Rotisserie chicken, definitely. I like Krave Jerky. Roll up lunch meat. I'm also a big fan of ordering a meal in a restaurant, like an omelette, and then getting two or three meals out of it. Usually I eat out with my family and then I just hit off the styrofoam containers. There are a lot of great salad mixes out there now, some that even come with their own dressing and fixings in the bag. They only need a little Protein. Also Target and our grocery stores sell smaller prepackaged chef and cobb salads. They're reasonable, calorie wise, and easy to carry around or stock in your fridge.
