Exotic journey here I come

Recommended Posts

I've decided and am excited!!! I'm new here and looking forward to being a part of a group that is moving towards positive change and on such a life altering journey. Now that's exotic!!

I'm 60, have tried, lost and regained so many pounds over the years that I just gave up years ago. And have gained more weight than ever. Health issues have piled up and I'm simply done with all the nonsense. It's time to change my life and give myself the chance to live longer and healthier.

I'm thinking the sleeve is for me. It's either Mexico or the VA health. If I can go with the VA I will just because it's more cost effective. Anyone have their surgery with the VA?

Looking forward to the journey.

Kay Welcome! I like how you described this as an exotic adventure. The people on here are pretty awesome :) Post anything and ask any questions you might have, someone will surely answer. Good luck in your journey. I am hoping to have my surgery in October.

Best of luck to you!

Summer

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
