10 days post op.... I cheated and had a noodle....

Recommended Posts

My friend made Mac n cheese and I has maybe a ounce. I feel bad for doing that. I also has some purée Soup already because shakes will killing my soul. On Tuesday I can officially have purée. I just feel bad for the Mac n cheese. I just miss chewing so much :(

I hope I'm not the only one that cheated. God I hope this doesn't mean I'm a failure. 15 pounds down after surgery been there for the past few days....

It's hard not to chew the first two weeks, I started my purée a day early, I wanted some texture.

your not the only one

I hate to even tell you all how bad I cheated in the beginning

within the first 10 days I was eating hard boiled eggs and tuna

14 days in I was eating salad and a turkey wrap

I was so worried and still am to some extent

I have never once vomited since the surgery but more than once have overeaten

For me the surgery hasn't removed my appetite

Now I find it's all Portion Control

That and I completely cut sugar out of my diet

No more sugar in my coffee , no more soda , Cookies , ice cream etc

There's still sugar in everything but I'm very conscience of what I'm putting in now

Small meals , really is all I'm able to get down

BUT the good news is the weight has come off , not as fast or as dramatic as I would like

Surgery was June 9th and my weight was 308

3 days shy of 3 months and I'm down to 250

When I say not dramatic I'm a man that looked 9 month pregnant

I had ( and still do ) a HUGE belly

The weight I've lost seems to have mostly come off my rear end

Not really where I needed to lose so much

I have a feeling I'm at that 3 month stall I've read so much about

So don't feel alone or to worried

In my case I was bound to lose weight being the size of meals I can eat and cutting out the sugar

Thank you all makes me feel so much better knowing I'm not alone in this. I know it's all for the best but good god I never knew I was so addicted to food before.

Maybe not addicted so much as wanting what you can't have. That is human nature unfortunately. I could go weeks without Breakfast and as soon I couldn't have food for breakfast, I wanted breakfast. Stay on course as much as you can for safety purposes, but remember that we are human. And the flesh is weak. BTW, I am 11 days post op and I struggle too. Especially because I have 7 people who do eat in my house. Good luck and I will pray for your strength :-) We are all in this together!

Oh how I hear you on this one. My dr wants 3 full weeks (21day) of liquid only following discharge. Up until now it's been ok. But now I'm feeling like I'm not getting enough. The hardest part for me right now is I have 11 more days to go before my follow up and they advance my diet and I see and read all these other posts that 10 days out people are eating purée and mushy stuff as tolerated... I have been eating nothing but Water, Protein Shakes and pho broth...I'm bored as hell. I know it's only temporary, and I can do it, but I cheated too. I made a soft scrambled egg, took a few very small bites and did just fine with it. I only ate about half of it out of fear of hurting myself, but it was fine. I also had a bite of some cottage cheese at a friends house yesterday. It's totally the texture thing. I need flavors and textures. But I don't want to push it. I need to learn to control those urges.

Congratulations on the great weight loss so far!

I cheated a bit on my pre-op (had some tofu or egg whites in broth) and I started on mushies a couple days early post-op. It really is based on what you can tolerate, so just take it slow if you can.

I was really missing solids after a month of liquids (despite the bit of tofu and egg whites) so purees are like heaven.

Just don't lose sight that the sleeve is a tool and you can overdo the food and stall your weight loss, so don't beat yourself up, but try and continue with the plan. You'll be back on regular foods in no time! The recovery time is a blip on the radar of our lives.

Not to mention that the pre-op and post-op diets are some of the best weight loss you're going to have! :)

Best of luck and peace be with you.

I was sleeved August 26th. I had a piece of hotdog, a piece of lamb, one popcorn(today). So you are not alone. Also, i started my puree stage one day early. My 2 weeks post visit is in the morning.

You aren't alone (obviously)! I am 10 days post-op; I'm supposed to move to soft foods 10-14 days and I've had some soft foods. I ate a few bites of refried Beans and I had some Mac n cheese too. I'm not a Dr but just go slow and don't beat yourself up!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
