Luanddo 14 Posted September 5, 2014 Hi! I'm 5 months post surgery and I'm losing literally around 1000+ hairs per day. I can now see my scalp through my hair and I'm sure I'm only a few weeks away from needing a wig. My Protein intake is high (approx. 95 grams per day) and I have been taking Biotin 2X per day for the past 4 months. My doctor wants me to use Rogaine, but as a woman, I'm a little nervous about side effects. Anyone have any suggestions? I'd be very grateful for any help. rte837 141 Posted September 5, 2014 Count each lost hair as a victory along your journey. If you feel you need a wig, get one for now. Forget the rogaine. Your hair WILL grow back! It's a reaction to anesthesia and rapid weight loss and it just is what it is. If you're getting your Protein or not, it's going to happen. You will be beautiful with a new hairstyle for now!! It may get worse before it gets better but it WILL get better! I lost lots of hair between 4 and 9 mos, then it began to regrow. My hair is thickening once again (I'm 15 months post op). I kind of like my new shorter length - I started keeping it short because it helped disguise the fact that it was so thin! Short hair never looked good when I was huge but I like it now! :-)
