I used to juice fruits and vegetables. I look at the juices on the shelves and they have so much sugar!

Do you or have you juiced since surgery? I am gonna ask my dietitian about it on Monday when she calls.

Juicing is a fad with minimal health benefits. Making a smoothie with a cup of naturally low sugar berries and a cup of plain, fat free Greek yogurt is one thing - Fiber, and lots of Protein plus the antioxidants. I will also throw a couple baby carrots in for good measure. Just juice from fruit is another story. I haven't read anything positive about juicing and you're right - loads of sugar, no protein.

I'm in maintenance and I drink a green juice at least 3-4 times a week. It tastes good and my body craves the Vitamins. It's not too high in sugar. I also drink about 1-2 ounces of orange juice at night with meds.

Add spinach or baby kale to this smoothie and you have a home run for nutrition. I don't juice, but instead emulsify in my nutribullet. I get all the fiber from wonderful nutritional food sources. Add in my protein powders and I am well on my way getting in my required daily protein.

I don't think juicing is as awful as some people make it out. I usually put in a few vegetables, some spinach, and an apple.

What juicer/blender/emulsifier do you use? I think I need to do this with the veggies and fruits and get it over with. yick

Old thread, I know, but I'm finding that by the time I'm done eating my Protein at every meal I'm too full to eat the veggies/fruit so I haven't been eating much of those at all. How are we supposed to do this?? Still don't feel like I'm getting enough protein either so I drink a Premier.

I'm thinking maybe emulsifying (I have a Ninja Bullet. I hope that does the job) fruits and veggies and drinking them between the protein meals will help? What do you think?

Hiya :-) Been well. On another freagin stall. Stuck at 175 still but feeling good. Been resizing almost every day for the last 6,7 weeks, don't notice much of a change physically doing that. Still eating healthier than before surgery but I read what people on here are eating and I'm at a loss. Seems too difficult/complicated. I'm lucky if I can get dinner made. Lol would rather just drink the Protein and shove all the fruits/veggies in a blender and drink then too. Lol food is annoying. Trying to figure out what to eat is annoying too.

How many more procedures are you going to have to do? :( Can't they put in a shunt or something?? I hate that you are going through all this :(

My husband is fine too. No problems. Finally off of the Coumadin. No more blood clot. Yay!

Glad you guys are doing well. I have no idea how much more I will have to go through. I asked today about a stent and he said he did not think that was an option for me.

Why not?

Why not?

He said it would cause pain and acid reflux and that the stent would cause more problems with my medication trying to go down.....I have no idea.

Weird. I would think the more stricture releases they do the weaker it gets.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
