heartfeltlaugh 9 Posted September 4, 2014 I'm 4 weeks post-surgery and went back to work about 10 days after surgery. I work on my feet and talk to large crowds of people for approx 6-8 hours straight. The first week was really rough and I had to call out sick twice due to vomiting. It's been getting slowly better since then, but I'm really struggling with balancing when I can eat and how to stay hydrated when I'm on my feet during that time. Today I actually had a rare whole hour for lunch, but only two bites of chicken salad went down, and when I got to work, I got that tell-tale pressure in my back and chest and ended up throwing up and having to leave. My bosses also don't know about what kind of surgery I had, but now I feel like I have to tell them since it's affecting me so much at work, but that's another story. My big question is: how long did it take people to achieve a work-sleeve balance? Thanks!

susanmh 2 Posted September 5, 2014 I went to work for a few hours 4 days after surgery. I've gone to the office everyday for a few hours each day. But I'm so tired when I get home. Today makes 2 weeks out of surgery.
Texasmeg 568 Posted September 5, 2014 I have a desk job and went back after two weeks. I usually work 50 - 60 hours/week, but told my boss I would only be working 40 for the first two weeks. I did ok, but was really tired at the end of the day. After two months there were no issues at all.
DeanieG 49 Posted September 5, 2014 I have a desk job and am hoping to be scheduled for my surgery by the end of September. I'm planning to take a week off and then go back to work. I'm expecting to be tired but at least when I get home, I only have to worry about taking care of me and my 2 dogs! I'm planning to have all my housework taken care of before I have the surgery so that I won't have to worry about cleaning.
stacielynntate 88 Posted September 6, 2014 I have a desk job and took a week off. But it took me a good month to get back to my old self and have energy.
