Don't push too hard! Everyone one is different you will get there! Good luck on your journey. It's been a rough start for me. But I do thank God I don't have the nausea that some people speak of.

Hi Guys, I was sleeved on 8/6/14, Down 15 Pounds since surgery. Surgery was flawless had zero pain only took pain meds the 1st night home and slept in the recliner for two days. Guess I was one of the lucky ones! The Phase I, II, and III and shakes weren't as bad as though, although I wouldn't want to do them over again. Well the party's over, I am back to work tomorrow *^%(*#@!! but cant wait to get back in the Gym and Pool.

I was sleeved 8/6 and I'm down 20lbs since surgery, despite the scale not budging from 8/17 - 8/30, so I guess I can't complain. Finally starting to feel like I have some energy which took awhile. Aside from that, I've really had no problems. I've been walking about 3 miles a day this past week. I'm definitely ready to transition into the real food stage, though!

I was sleeved on Aug 27th. I am down 10 lbs. I went back to work as a home health Physical Therapist Assistant on day 6. Fortunately, I can make my own schedule and took it easy for a couple of days. My energy was horrible, but I started drinking a nutrition/vitamin drink called Zeal. I had been using is before surgery and loved it. It has made a huge difference in my energy level and keeping my mood up. The post op Vitamins I was prescribed by my dr made me nauseated every time I took them. I really enjoy reading everyone's post.

Hey all! Congrats to all for being brave and committed to start your WLS journey! I was sleeved 8/18 after saving for years as my Ins wouldn't cover the surgery. Worth every penny! Down 22 pounds since surgery day. Still no energy but feeling a little better every day. Strained muscles in my foot yesterday and off meds for auto immune disease until 6 wks post op, therefor a lot of arthritic stiffness and pain. These keep me from getting the amount of exercise I want and need. It will get better! Im so thankful I was able to have the surgery and so looking forward to being able to do things I haven't in 30 plus years. Thank you Jesus! God bless you all:)

Hi everyone ... Was sleeved on August 27... Just made it into the group.. Lol!! All has gone well. Went home with a pain pump for two days... Never took a pain pill... Had a hard time the first few days getting my liquids in... And fatigue... Have been going to sleep at 8am!! sleeping until 4... Which is a record amount of sleep for me!! However I am back to work so I am probably a little more tired from that. So 10 days post op.... What do you think can I go from my 2 Mile walk? I am feeling like I need to get out there and exercise however not sure about the time frame . Love this thread! Alyce

I am 11 days post op and walk 4 miles. My doctor said just increase my walking as I feel I can tolerate it. I tired yesterday to exercise on the excercise bike very slowly. That was a NO GO!

Well thank goodness!

I was sleeved August 18th, and was losing weight pre-op with the three week liquid/shake diet and then post-op...but this last week I've lost zero...nada.

It was a real relief to read that some others are having a stall at about the same time as me so I won't freak out now.

I'm onto pureed and soft foods...Tim Horton's chili and Soups for lunch at work are a staple. (I only am able to eat half, so one bowl does me two days). The hardest things for me are lack of energy and nausea every time I drink fluids. I got my prevacid doubled several days ago and it seems to be helping a little bit with the nausea so yay!

I think a big reason why I'm so tired is that I was asked to stop taking Iron supplements three weeks pre op...so this has been almost five weeks without it. I go really low with my Iron if I don;t take sups so I'm hoping next week to get the go ahead and start taking it again. Also, a big part of my regular diet before was raw leafy greens...kale/spinach/swiss chard. I miss my greens. :(

All in all though, in good spirits. I was back at work within a week, and glad to be back. I'm one of those weird people who actually loves to go to work.

Hi everyone. Well I was sleeved Aug 25th and I have been really lucky. Easily getting my liquids in no nausea and no real pain to speak of. My energy is ok.. im still on full liquids, but I did try some cottage cheese yesterday with no issues. It was nice to have something other than liquid. Ive lost 8lbs since surgery. Hope everyone is doing well. :)

Great to have the post op thread. I find I'm better about tracking and reaching for goals when I read the forums everyday. It's hard to be bad when you feel accountable to others ;)

I was sleeved Aug 25th and had some odd complications that even made my surgeon go hmmm weird (swelling and redness on one side of abdomen no where near incisions and off and on fever). CT scan ruled out any leaks or abcesses so yay!

Nausea and diarrhea are still being tested for but we're thinking im one of the lucky few who have a heightened sense of smell (feel the sarcasm) that causes the nausea.

My mouth still tastes nasty (no matter how many times I brush my teeth) from the contrast for the CT scan. It's making everything I eat or drink taste nasty.

I had to plan my son's 3rd bday party for thursday. I had to face a few people who cause high anxiety (no matter what I do these people find fault and then they gossip among other family members about me). Unfortunately between that and nothing tasting right I broke diet and had stuff I KNOW is bad. On the bright side I found out that the "goodies" I would turn to in stressful times don't taste the same. So now I'm not obsessed with the cravings. I still know I screwed up tho so I'm confessing and moving on.

I've lost a total of 24 lbs since preop (13 preop and 11 post) so I'm pleased with the outcome.

Hi all. I was a band to sleeve revision on the 19th. The first week was rough, not a lot of pain, but I was sent home with oxygen and was soooo tired. I also had a drain and that was nasty. 1 week post op I had the drain removed and started feeling normal again. I was also allowed soft foods.

I'm doing well, getting all of my Protein in but still struggling with my Water. I've lost 13 pounds, not much but I'm ok with that. I did have a couple of cheats, 1/2 a cupcake and another time a crust of bread. No stomach problems with either but the cupcake about put me in a diabetic coma! Won't do that again.

I was sleeved on August 11th. I feel pretty good. I've been walking daily, and I started my gym routine on Thursday. I'm pain-free and happy.

Glad to see everyone is doing well here. I have no idea where i am in regards to weight lose. I do notice that my stomach is getting smaller, YaY! I have my energy back, it doesn't matter because I am still lazy, lol. I am so over the full liquid thing. I hope to be cleared to the next next phase on Monday. I also did not exercise yet. I need to be cleared for the recumbent bike, once that happens I am going to take off with that. Still doing the Flintstones Complete. Four out of five of my terry strips came off. The biggest incision is closed. I was really concerned with that. All in all I feel like I didn't have the surgery. But I must note that I did not have hernia repair so that could make a difference. My pain after surgery felt like a bad tummy ache. And the pain on day 2 that I had felt like an alien was coming through my chest. Talk about Aliens part 7, lol. That pain was terrible but was controlled with narcotics. I also suffered from nausea and they gave me Patches to take home. That nausea really set me back. they kept bringing the optisource shakes and they were terrible. the only thing I did like was the broth. I wasted those shakes and felt bad about it.

I am so happy that so many of the August folks are getting their walking in. As long as we stick to our doctor's plan we can accomplish our goals people. Just remember to measure and take your time eating and drinking.

Any NSV's (non scale victories) yet? Please share.

@@Akafij, hey stay away from that cupcake. I totally understand the temptation. I just want to take one Dorito and let dissolve in my mouth forever. But you noticed your mistake and just keep busy for a smaller and healthier you.

@Keisha_lorraine: That is awesome my friend. Keep up the good work and it show soon.

I was sleeved on August 25th also. I went home from the hospital on full liquids at my post op appt my NUT wanted me to stay on them until Monday. Well I had eggs. I have had them scrambled and then i ate the egg white of a boiled egg. I cannot actually eat an entire scrambled egg. But it sure does taste good. Lol. This Monday she said I could start puréed, which I cannot do, but I can eat the oatmeal that they allow on that phase. The following Monday it will be on to soft foods. That will give me more variety for sure. I actually feel like I am cheating when I eat an egg because I have been on fluids since 10. Days pre op, it feels like I am not going to lose weight if I eat anything at all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
