Kikibell1 11 Posted September 4, 2014 I hesitate to ask this, since others report they have a great deal of pain, but I was wondering if anyone else had literally no pain following sleeve surgery? I was without pain the moment I woke up after my surgery. It's been 10 days now and still no pain. I had a bit of discomfort at the incision sites, but that's it. I'm not complaining, just curious...am I the only one?
SparkleCat 521 Posted September 4, 2014 I had no pain....no gas pain at all and didn't take any of the pain meds they sent me home with. Day after surgery was a little ick (sore in my sternum area and one, short bout with nausea)....after that, nothing! My Surgeon used the On-Q pain pump...maybe that helped...who knows, but I was grateful for the super easy recovery!
Easterli 12 Posted September 4, 2014 No pain here either. None. Surgery on 8/25. No pain medicine needed after discharge, no gas pains. I'm thrilled!!!
jjinWA 511 Posted September 4, 2014 I consider myself lucky, if not the norm. No pain ( and no pain meds), no nausea ( no nausea meds) and no gas issues. I was able to walk the hallways within 2 hours after I was delivered to my room. I had no issues getting in 50oz of Water in the same day of surgery. I have to say I questioned whether I actually had the surgery. With all that said, I did have a painful lesson on Constipation once I returned home. I stay ahead of that now with a daily dose of Benifiber! I always get in my required Water intake, even if I don't get in all my Protein. My dr said dehydration is a serious concern and I listened to that advice.
triumph 4 Posted September 4, 2014 (edited) Same here - no pain at all (and no gain so far!) right from waking up. No nausea, vomiting, Constipation, diarrhea.. even the incisions didn't do much more than itch - I was moving around fine, and went home the next day. I'm 5 weeks out, but it's working. I asked my surgeon the same question as you (is this normail?) - he just said it was the luck of the draw. Dietician said the same thing. No one really knows why some people have a hard time, and others don't. Congrats on the surgery and the pain-free thing so far! My biggest headache at the moment is making sure I don't eat anything after 9pm (my old bad habit). Other than that - it's been a lot easier than I thought. Good luck on your journey!
