I used to be a Starbucks regular.

I loved coffee. I loved Mochas. LOVELOVELOVE. I tried a Decaf iced coffee there last week and it was BAD. I thought it was just a fluke. Maybe it was just too strong. I hadn't had coffee of any kind for over 2 months.

I tried a lighter tasting blend here at home this morning. Bad. Just awful.

Most of my tastes had changed, everything tasted off and just wrong.

Everything has gotten back to normal for the most part.

I used to love coffee. Now I feel like the nine year old kid who begged her mom to let her have coffee and finally got it and it was awful!

Of course I would normally have full fat half and half and now it's fat free and I know that is a big issue....

Oh goodness.....

The pumpkin spice coffee at Dunkin Donuts has 34 grams of sugar for a medium coffee and 160 calories. I only made the mistake of ordering it one time. Was too scared to even drink it for fear of dumping! Lol! Dangit! I love pumpkin spice!

I think everything I used to drink had 5 billion sugars. There is no way I could drink it right now, or I would be too afraid to, anyway.

My surgery was in March and I hated garlic until July. I'm part Italian and used to use a lot of garlic. Your tastes change but my body was clearly trying to help me. I had bad acid reflux so garlic and onions would be stupid. I like garlic now (6 months out). I'm still careful with it. You might find that you'll like it again. I was off coffee for months and had much more energy. It doesn't taste the same to me, either.

I never use to like Starbucks, but I became hooked on the unsweetened iced coffee with skim milk. I love it, I love it, I love it!!!! The only thing I hate is that it does have some calories, but it gives me that extra jolt of energy I need.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
