Any Graveyard Banders?

Recommended Posts

Morning everyone. I've been pretty frusterated over the past 2 weeks or so after returning to work. I am having a hard time planning meals and with hunger in general. My body is just really throwing a tantrum about being back on nights. I gained 4 pounds over the last 2 week. I am actually ok with that though. I recently began tolerating firmer mushies and solids a lot better so that makes me smile. I've been pretty fatigued over the past few weeks. I take my Vitamins and get in my Protein. I'm only walking about 45 mins a day about 4-5 times a week at the moment. I just wonder how some of you other graveyarders make it through the day and night.

I'm a night shift nurse banded 12/26/13. It's been a challenge on nights and finding things to eat. The cafeteria is not open and it's too easy to grab take out on the way to work. It's so hard when everyone else is snacking all night long, too. Protein Shakes, nuts, beef jerkey and cheese sticks have been my friend! I've recently found Quest Protein Bars and I think I could go in debt ordering them online! I love the apple pie, lemon creme pie and chocolate Peanut Butter ones and I'm still trying all the other flavors. I have boiled eggs, chicken breasts with seasoning, egg salad, tuna salad, fajitas, chili, taco Soup, anything I can make at home and use leaner meats. If I do drive thru I get chili at Jason's deli, steak fajita nachos and add black Beans for extra Protein, or Jimmy johns sandwich shop will make your sandwich wrapped in lettuce instead of bread. I've found that if a place is diabetic friendly I can make it band friendly.

Thanks Sengelken. I had prepared myself for a lot of things like chewing, listening to my body, making good food choices, etc but, returning to my shift on nights and managing everything seems to have been the most challenging. I will definitely look for the Quest bars and the tip about looking for diabetic friendly places is genius.

Congrats on the loss. I'm not seeing a lot of movement on the scale but I getting room in my clothes so I am still happy. I guess it could be fat turning to muscle. So far 14 lbs down from185 lbs so I'll take it. What kind of tips and tricks keep you all motivated on the graveyard shift?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
