Is anyone from TN.?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I'm actually from Bowling Green, KY, but as you know it's right on the border and I'm going to Dr. Lynch at Baptist. Has anyone used him? I'm scheduled for surgery on 7/30/07 - and I can't wait. I start my liquid diet 7/16/07. Any words of wisdom would be appreciated. I noticed a lot of you have done really well - I'm SO EXCITED!!

In a few months all of this will be a memory , the waiting, anticipation, the rough few days after surgery, the dreaded liquid diet, lol But all of it is well worth the results!

it is worth everything we go through. I've always believed the harder something is the more I appreciate it after it's over. Our families support us but even so, only we know how hard it really is to wait and then do - but we do it because we know it will change our lives forever.

Hi LauraP

I'm from Kingsport, just north of you. I was beginning to believe I was the only one here from East Tn.

Hey everyone!!!!

I'm so excited that I can't sleep. I go for my surgery this coming Friday :)

I am on this lovely pre-op liquid diet but it hasn't been too bad. I'm a pretty inventive cook so I have managed to keep from being bored and still stay on the diet.

Any more East TN folks hiding out there? :)

Don & Jacqui. My doctor is at Baptist, Dr. Lynch. Is Dr. Morton moving there? Just curious. I really like the office staff there - they got mine approved within one month. I'm having my lapband 7/30/07 - getting very nervous and I have also cheated on the two week diet. I fessed up today and they said just do as good as I can this week. How weak, but quite frankly if I could do a liquid diet I probably wouldn't need the band!

Hi Becky, Dr Morton is at Baptist and I think he is there for good, they do fills at Southern Hills but the nurse does them, and they will be at Baptist only soon from what I understood. I hate that Southern Hills is easier to get to for me, but I doubt they really care, lol. Good luck on your surgery!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
