Well it varies from person to person, it depends alot on food choices and how committed you are, in my opinion. Since you can still eat junk sometimes it is hard not to when it goes down so easy. But when I was working ,( laid off due to Saturn retooling) it was alot easier, I was lifting car seats all day but now that I'm home all the time it is not coming off as fast. Some off my loss was waiting to be approved and the liquid diet before surgery. I have heard it is only 1 week now instead of two. Which is a blessing, I thought I would starve!! But once you get restiction you don't want to eat , sometimes I forget. You will do well , if you have been trying for 2 years you must really want this and alot of it will depend on your mindset, when you are ready in your head you will do it. Have a great day!! Pick up a book they have at the docs office in all the rooms and it will give you alot of good info.

Hi, I am Terry. If you should look at my profile, I am not 92. I made a mistake typing in the date. I am 57.

I live in Giles County about 15 miles south of Pulaski, almost on the Alabama line.

Dr. Ablert Spaw is my doctor. I will be having lapband surgery on June 12 at Baptist Hostpital in Nashville

ckbw,

I know that I am fortunate to have insurance that pays. The surgeons who practice at Baptist Hospital in Nashville come highly recommended, but the cost is about average. If you want to contact them, let me know and I will send the information.

There is a doctor in colorado that does the surgery for 9950.00. There is a thread for him under doctors and hospitals.

Well I do have a doctor now, he is Dr. Madan from Memphis, has anyone heard of him? I have done some research on him he did the first laproscopic gastric bypass in Memphis and his experience level seems high. Robbie

My brother's ex-girlfriend works as his nutritionist. I'm not sure how many bands he's done. He seems to do mainly RNY, from the way she talked.

Since you are looking for someone in Memphis, have you checked out Dr. Virginia McGrath-Weaver over at St. Francis? That's who will be doing my surgery. I asked her office manager about how many bands she's done, and she said that Dr. McGrath-Weaver's done well over 100 of them, since she did a bariatric fellowship. Her center's also the only Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery in Memphis.

Well you see I have tenncare and this is who they sent me to, so I guess this is who I have to see. I am going to have to finish 3 more weeks of weight watchers before i can do anything else anyway. I may have to start over and do the whole 12 weeks, if they approve me. I hope I hear from them soon. Thanks for the name though if this one don't pan out i will look into that one.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
