So I saw a Psych(therapist) 3x and she gave me forms to fill out - she wants me back a few other times and she's really not a nice nice person to speak with ... Summer was crazy and I missed an appt with her, when I called her, she said I think it's best you find someone else to REDO your Psych evaluation with - maybe closer to home --- do it in a 3hour session she said.. Well I'm ticked ;) :)

Anyways -- I have to find someone now to help me with the Eval part - I called one woman the surgeon recommended and she doesn't take insurance, it's $375.00 out of pocket.

I have another option that I found and it's one hour covered by insurance and another hour covered, but with approval thru insurance.
Should I go that route?

I'm so frustrated --- I don't have a surgery date, but thought i had all my tests in order.

I just need this and my echo/stress test and then we can try and get insurance approval.

What should i do?

Sounds like you have already answered your question. You have found one that is covered by insurance...Hopefully they will approve the 2nd hour.

It's a process..I understand the frustration:)

In my opinion I would go the insurance way. It will save you a lot of money. Especially since it's $375.00. It seems like it's a longer waiting period but to me I would go that route. Good luck to you on your journey

My surgical team required a specific psych eval at a specific place (same hospital system) and they did not take insurance. It only took one session as long as you filled out a bunch of forms beforehand. But still it cost $300. As an off topic. the nutrition class is not covered either but other nutritionist appointments have been as part of medical weight management have been.

I'm surprised your surgeon doesn't provide all of this in house..bc of everything that is required. Since surgeon doesn't provide how about goin thru your pcp? You definitely need a practitioner that takes insurance. .

I called my insurance an told them they missed paying the nutritionist an she said since I was approved an had the surgery They were resubmitting it should have been paid since surgery was approved an these specialist are a requirement for approval.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
