I agree with tmarie3. My surgeon writes out the request for 8 weeks. The reason for the eight weeks is because the healing is both physical and emotional. He states your body will go through several stages and there will be times that you look in the mirror and will not recognize yourself. He also does it because he wants you to return to work eating regular foods which makes the transition back into the real world as we know it. My company covers my pay 100 percent for 4 weeks and 70 percent up to 12 weeks after. I am taking minimum six weeks and I am an Analyst

At least 4 weeks. I'm a cna and lift heavy, I wouldn't go back before then. Even when I had the lap band and felt normal, I still took the 4 weeks. Gives you time to recover, process how you are handling things, prepare yourself for new food plans, prepares you for reactions once you go back and a host of other things.

I am a nurse on a Pediatric unit and plan on taking off a minimum of 6 weeks. If it were the beginning of summer, I might have said 4, but the fall/winter months are our busiest time and I sure don't want to get kicked in the belly or strain myself lifting anyone. Plus, we also get Adults if the rest of the hospital is busy.

Good luck to everyone!!!!

I was hoping to take a week or less. Maybe I was being hopeful.

I'm having ankle surgery and will be out of the office for 8 weeks in a few months. If I could have my surgery in that time frame that would be great.

I need to have a bone spur removed from my ankle and that doc said no I could not have them together since you need to walk after the RNY and can't walk for a few weeks after the ankle surgery. Ask your doctors

I'm hoping no more than two weeks. I work part time as a cat caretaker at a cat hotel. Involves moderate activity and standing. Usually 3-4 hour shifts.

I am planning on 2 full weekes, but I am an accountant so I don't move around much at work which is probably one of the reasons I am in this pickle in the first place.

Peace,

Laura

Take the 2 weeks. Longer if you can. You will not only need that time to heal but to also get accustom to new "eating" habits. Because you aren't hungry it's easy for an extended amount time to pass without eating or hydrating. The more time you take for you the easier it will be to establish a routine. Although it seems simple it is a surgery and you need to take care of yourself...for many of us for the first time. Take as much time as you can to prepare for the amazing new you.

I took 2 weeks - office work but with lots of walking. The pain is so minute that you will really think you could return to work in just a few days - its the feeling of exhaustion that gets ya! lol. 6 weeks later and I still feel tired all the time!

I am taking 4 weeks off. I have an office job and sit all day. But there are days I am up and down. Plus I commute an hour each way on public transportation. Then walk 7 blocks to and from the bus. I am exhausted thinking about it.

I only took off the day of surgery and the day after. I'm a dental assistant and I had no problems, just took my time and was cautious of my incisions. I did however use my pain medication at night, but Tylenol did the trick throughout the fist few days.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
