Highly considering Sleeve Surgery .. Any takers on their experience? :)

You should check out my blog (linked in my signature). I started it after my first pre-op doctor's appointment in Jan 2013, and update it a couple of times a week. I am going to be 1 year post op next week. I try to include as much there as possible, good, bad, and ugly. :-)

I'm 11 months post op, 92 pounds down and in maintenance for the last 7 weeks. The worst part was the prep, hoops and waiting required by insurance. Once all of their requirements were met, the rest went really well. Release form the hospital after 24 hours. Never needed narcotic pain meds and went back to my desk job the next week. Today, I'm off all 10 pre-op meds with normal labs and blood pressure. I exercise 5x per week and continue to log all food and exercise in MFP. I eat pretty much what I like now, although my choices are different than pre-op because I must choose Protein first, always now. For me, I would not have been successful without adding exercise and food\exercise journaling. My sleeve is the BEST gift I could have given myself!

I'm 3 months out. My sleeve surgery was a life saver for me. I was to a point I had given up on myself. Now I look forward to so many things. My self confidence is back. My attitude is positive. The weight loss is a perk (ok its also fantastic too). I just can't believe how good I feel.

Enjoy researching weight loss surgery. So much information out there.

Here is one of my favorite motivating videos. This woman is 18 months out. She has a video blog of her journey. Let me know what you think.

I love Fabiola's story!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
