How Fast do the weight come ofg

Recommended Posts

I I had my procedure on August the 21st and I'm only down 21 pounds. I thought I had would have lost more weight by now. I know its only been 2 weeks tomorrow but I thought much more would have came off. Do I have unrealistic expectations.

21 pounds in 14 days is a lot! Everyone's rate of loss is different, but you're definitely doing well!

I also thought the weight would just fall off at a tremdous rate, but we all lose differently. We did not gain this over night. The main thing is it is coming off and hopefully forever. You have to remember you have put your body through a lot. You need to stay off of the scales the first month and give your body time to heal......this should be your main goal right now. Don't be disappointed when you hit stalls.....we all do.....some for weeks and some for months. Most of the time during stalls you will still lose inches.......Good Luck!

unrealistic expectations.

@@toohot74akaelh2

you took the words right out of my mouth!!!!

"ONLY" 21 lbs in 2 weeks is wonderful :)

we all need to take the word "ONLY" out of our vocabulary

some people might say they "ONLY" lost 2 lbs or 21 lbs - both are great!

the alternative in the past was gaining ONLY 2 lbs or 21 lbs <_<

some people think right after surgery - and later on too - the weight is just going to melt off

my mom called me two days after surgery

she said in a serious tone - "did your underwear fall down to your ankles??"

LOL - are you kidding me :D

i tried to explain it does't work that way

she told me she really thought it did :)

"God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It ;) "

You are doing great!!!!

Keep up the good work!!

That's one reason I'm sorry that I shared my surgery with many people. They are all looking at me to lose incredible amounts of weight in a very short time. Every time my mother sees me she gets this child-like look on her face like I've just went potty on the toilet for the first time, exclaims and claps her hands together and calls me skinny.... "Mom, I haven't lost any more weight than the last time I've seen you... cut it out."

I was sleeved on June 24th and have lost 24 pounds. You are TWO months behind me and are already on track to beat that! I too feel like I should have lost more by now, but the issue that I read on this forum more than others is that we are all different - we all lose differently. Sticking with the plan that was given to us from our surgeon/doctor/nutritionist is what I'm shooting for and am determined not to let everyone else make me think I'm off track. Or "should be" here by now. Or my neighbor's best friend sisters cousin lost 100 lbs in 3 months...

It may come off quickly - it may come off slowly. But the surgery wasn't the only tool we should be getting out of this - it was only part of it. The rest of it are the changes that we are permanently making towards eating better, eating differently, exercising more, etc etc..

Good luck to you!!

Are you serious? You've lost more than most people ! I would love those results! Good luck, and don't worry, you're doing better than fine.

I wish I wouldn't have told people at work, when I left work just before my surgery one of the girls said to me....next time I see you you will be skinny. Lol. I said I am having part of my stomach taken out NOT liposuction. I told them you probably will not see a difference in me in two weeks. Lol.

It appears you may have bought into the notion that the weight just falls off like magic. Nope. Let me tell you please work on your perceptions of your weight loss NOW before you get further out and it does a number on you! Trust me, it is as much mental as it is physical. 21 lbs in two weeks is absolutely awesome. Have others lost more? Possibly...But are they you? NO. Each and every one of us do this differently. My friend had surgery two months after me and has lost 167lbs. I haven't hit 100lbs lost yet. But he is a male who started heavier and is tall. ( all things that come into play) I was on the heavier side for the sleeve. ( starting at 316lbs.) I have PCOS which may contribute to slower loss. ( that is an unknown- has not been proven) I have not done every last thing I could do to amplify my weight loss, and that is on me. Do I regret having surgery? Not for one damn minute. I would not be where I am, have the opportunity to reach a healthy "normal" weight, had I not done this. It may take me longer but oh well, I didn't get to 316lbs in a year either. This is for life, my life. Congratulations on what you have achieved so far and best of luck for continued success!!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
