My NUT recommended Bariatric Advantage and told me to look at it as "a treat". I thought she was crazy, but I have to admit, I look forward to that caramel Calcium twice a day now! I couldn't stomach the chewable Multivitamins (I tried Flintstones and bought some opurity I'm going to try and sell on ebay!), so I bought gummies by One A Day Women's and they go down better. I'm not sure if they are allowable by my NUT, but I figured if she wanted me to take chewy Calcium, chewy multi would work as well!

My NUT recommends Bariatric Advantage too but the Vitamins make me nauseous so recently bought some gummy vitamins and they will have to do until I go see her soon!

Ran out of Iron but I enjoyed that so will buy some more from the Dr's next week when I go for my 3 month follow up-My labs look good so it should be ok for a week

I was taking a Vita-fusion chewable multi that I was getting at Walgren's but mt bariatric physician switched me to Bariatric Advantage AE because of its extra Iron content. It is a huge horse pill stink bomb that I could not swallow whole or in quarters........so I got my morter and pestle out of the kitchen and mush them up and put them in a blueberry applesauce cup. No problem now.

THE BA Vitamins made me horrible sick. Now, I take AlternaVites which is like a pixie stick style that dissolves on your tongue. The ingredietns are pretty good too. For whole foods and excellent ingredients try Garden of Life Raw One for women. They have lots to choose from. I still cant stomach the big pills yet but once I do I will moving to those.

My Nut, who is big time into food purity, won't eat sugar, drink Creamers, etc, strongly recommended Celebrate. I found out during lab work that I had very severe anemia. That plus an extra 100 pounds.. No wonder I felt like stomped dog doo! One month of two a day celebrate Iron and my level more than doubled. She said it is very well absorbed. It is a little costly but I am sold on the products. I buy online on their site.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
