Hello Bari-Friends

I got sleeved on July 31. I have the ok to walk and do light weight (2lb) exercises for the arms.

Can you share your exercise routines post-op?

Thanks.

At about five weeks post-op I started going to a fitness club to lift weights and I haven't looked back since. I lift three days a week. My goal right away was to build muscle volume to give my skin something to hang on to as I lose fat, so I started lifting heavy right away (I had no surgical complications and I healed very well). I do cardio too, but weights are the priority. My body fat is way down, and I'm also about a size smaller than I was the last time I was at this weight, which makes sense since muscle is heavier than fat. I feel great! Definitely don't skimp on the weight training!

@@WhoKnows I do prefer weight training! I started exercising 3 weeks post-op but had to stop then because my nutritionist said I was not eating enough. Now I'm eating almost the 800cals recommended by the nutritionist and I want to start exercising today. I can't go to a gym because I work full time and I have a 3yr old toddler to take care in the afternoons but I have a treadmill at home and 2lb, 5lb dumbbells, resistance bands and some other stuff at home. I'm thinking walking 15 mins, then do a dumbbell routine for arms, then walk 15 more mins and do some leg exercises. At least 3 days a week weight training and the other 2 days just walk for 30-40 mins. ^_^

I eat up to 800 on the days when I don't work out, and I aim for closer to 1100 on the days when I lift. I also get between 85-110g of Protein daily, and I'm all good on my liquids.

I'd say you can also safely invest in some heavier weights if you know how to use them. Not to make sweeping generalizations, but women often get caught up doing something like six sets of twenty reps with 2lb weights. What a waste of time, literally! You can totally lift heavier. I dead lifted almost 70lb the other day, and if you'd told me four months ago that I'd be doing that, I would've said you're crazy. (My guess is that it'll be over 100lb by the holidays.)

Good luck and don't sell yourself short strength-wise!

Slow and heavy. Fast and light weight training does have its place though. But I agree with @WhoKnows. As soon as you can lift heavy, do so.

I get bored doing cardio and weights though. Not gonna lie. This is why I swim twice a week, take a fast and light class at the gym once a week and do heavy weights and cardio twice a week. This keeps me sane.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
