Anyone experiencing hair loss?

Recommended Posts

I was banded in June of this year, and lately my hair seems to be falling out a lot more than the normal, every day Hair loss. I had a handful of hair today after my shower, and it's never that much. Am I deficient somewhere? Should I bring it up to my surgeon? Are there other Vitamins I should be taking?

I have lots of hair, and the thought of it falling out is scary!!!

When I lost weight a few years back, I had the same thing happen. I saw my Dr. and he informed me it was due mal-nourishment, mainly the lack of Protein. I would check with your Dr but you may need to step up your protein. By the way are you taking Vitamins?

Banded in March. Hair loss started in June and still going. Trying not to worry. There are several threads here about it. Good luck.

I was banded last September. My hair starting falling out in February. It stopped in May and is regrowing. I have lots of new growth...and it sticks straight up :) It will get better. Find ways to boost your Protein and talk to your doc. Good luck!

I was banded in March and started losing hair in May and June. I started taking Biotin and I use the Shampoo Nioxin. My hair is coming back and I also cut it shorter. So do not stress some say it is Protein intake, but I have always kept mine Protein high and I still lost hair.

You should yes up your Protein intake but my dr also told me to take Biotin and lots of it. I was worried about the Hair loss too. Getting married in a few months and I need all the hair I can get.

You might look into Biotin. They sell it at Walmart and grocery stores.

I was banded in December and started noticing Hair loss in late February. It lasted through May and then it stopped just as suddenly as it started. I can now see lots of regrowth. I didn't really do anything different other than taking Biotin but I'm not really sure how much that helped. Just try not to panic. It will get better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
