My firt month was very rough. The smallest sip of Crystal Light or a 1/2 teaspoon of food would make Frankensleeve tie up in knots. I was never worried about getting in the recommended protein/calories, only staying hydrated. I kept a big mug of ice cold Crystal Light lemonade on my desk and drank small sips every time I looked at the mug.

It will take time for the swelling in your new tummy to go down and things will get easier. But honesty, my 1st 2 weeks, I was eating at most 1/2 of a sugar free popsicle per day and the follwing month, I was eating about 3/4 can of Cream of Mushroom Soup per day.

I knew that I had more than enough calories stored in my fat to last me through the longest Zombie Appocolypse!!! So I wasn't worried about starving. :P

Have you tried Water at different temperatures? Some people have an easier time with ice cold, room temp, warm or hot liquids.

I was pretty swollen right after surgery and had trouble drinking anything, but sucking on ice chips and small sips of ice cold Water worked for me.

Pre-op I preferred beverages to be room temp, but since the surgery it's a lot easier to drink beverages over lots of ice.

I also found that hot tea and hot broth went down much easier than anything room temp.

For Protein, most of the beverages made me gag too, but I had luck with sugar-free Protein Jello. You mix the Jello powder with hot water (according to the package instructions), and then dissolve your Protein Powder in the cold water before mixing the hot and cold together. Let it set in the fridge, and then it's just like eating jello :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
