Hello everyone. I think I know how to post now, and I think Im in the right place. I am in the process of losing my pre surgery 10%. Ive completed my long check list and done a lot of reading on the subject. Now I see the doctor on Thurs. And find out about my insurance, whether its been accepted. My doctor is Scott Watson in Johnson City, TN. Feedback would be great. I just hope it will be by the end of the year. That would be great. I just wonder if he will schedule the surgery with 4 to 5 lbs. to go. Anyway, send me good thoughts. Thanks.

Debbie

Hey Debbie. Congrats on starting the process. I'm six most post op. Dr. Hodge did my surgery but I've had serval friends that used Watson and i saw Watson in the hospital. Don't find a lot of locals around here. I really liked both of them and their practice. They are both excellent surgeons. I will tell you up until just before I had my surgery that had a nurse practitioner who handled everything, all your preop appointments, all your questions ECT. Since she left they've been a little bit disorganized and Dr Watson and Dr Hodge haven't seemed to really take over everything she did do you may have to push a bit if you have questions. I was ok with that because excellent surgical ability is more important that beside manner to me. If your insurance requirement is that you lose the 10% he want schedule you until your insurance approved it so you'll have to lose the rest first. At your final appointment they'll go over everything and send it off for insurance approval it will take a couple of weeks to get the approval and then they can schedule the date after that. You should have no problem getting it by the end of the year. They offered me a date 10 days after my approval came back. If you have any other questions feel free to ask or private message me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
