The ACTI-TRAINER (like bodybugg)

Recommended Posts

:bump2:

I was just wondering if you're still using your Actitrainer? I've been searching for some place that has a review of it, and there just aren't any reviews out there.

Have you started seeing results??? Is it easy to use? Is the unit itself bulky, or noticeable under clothing? Is it something I could wear to work without people asking me "what is that thing?"

I hae a question about the actitrainer. Can it be worn in the Water? I swim each morning and log it into sparkpeople, but I would like to see how much I am really burning. I don't know if either bodybugg or actitrainer will work while swimming.

I don't know about the actitrainer, but the bodybugg's website says it cannot be worn in the Water. I'd also be curious about this. Anyone???

I've been looking into the BodyBugg, and from what I understand, since you couldn't wear it underwater, when you were done your swimming, you'd put it back on, and later when you link it up to your computer, it would ask what you were doing for that time that you didn't have your BodyBugg on, and you would enter "swimming" or something, and it would just put the estimated amount of calories one would burn swimming.

Thanks Lisa99 for your help/info!

Ok, right now the Actitrainer can NOT be worn under Water (althought it IS Water resistant). They are working on a new neoprene casing... but I don't think that would be water proof either. They are constantly evolving the software, and although there is not currently a feature that asks what you were doing when you weren't wearing it... it may be available in the future.

So... to answer your question.. you can't wear it while swimming :-(

Does anyone know how the technology compares to bodybugg. How the sensors work and how accurate they are? Im trying to decide between them and honestly am disapointed on the varying price point with body bugg they can range from 249.00-399.00 depending on where you live.

How do these things work. I guess I am just computer illiterate. Do you have to plug it into the computer to find out how many calories you have burned?

Or do you just wear it and you can read it right on there?

If I get one of these doo-hickies, it will probably be the Acti-trainer. First reason is price. Second is that it can track your sleep patterns. Other than that, I think they (Actitrainer and BodyBugg) are pretty similar. Anyone have a Consumer Reports account? I'm going to dig up something. I really want one.

Let us know what you find out Kathy! I would love one, but have to hold off until the end of summer (I'm poor.)

I still want to know if you can read how many calories you have burned without hooking it into the computer.

What size is the Acti Trainer? Can anyone take a picture of one next to you and post it? I was looking into the Body Bugg, then read about this and like the heart monitor and sleep features...so I am soooo confused! i can buy a Body Bugg from someone, brand new for $200. But, really, is the Acti Trainer better? Aaaaakkkk! Help me!!!:)

The polar strap that you have to wear around your chest......is this tight and uncomfortable? I had to wear one during a sleep study and I couldn't imagine wearing one all the time......

I really want one of these things, but this is my only issue with it. Please post on how comfortable it is to wear all day. Also, does it just keep registering your calorie burn at all times? I am a teacher, so I'm sure I rack up the cals. during the day.

Thanks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
