Dr. David Kim - Dallas, Texas Yall!

Recommended Posts

Hi Shannon,

I've not been sleeved yet but heard great testimonials about Dr Kim. A sports personality Ben Rodgers used him with great results among others! Dr Kim's website lists support groups you can join I believe. He is the only other Dr I would consider doing my surgery because of what I found in my own research. bs

Hey Shannon! I'm using Dr. Kim's office currently. Dr. Holden is doing my surgery (who also works in his office out of Colleyville. I've had nothing but amazing experience with the office. I can call up there any time and ask questions and they are more than happy to answer. I have one more nutritional class this week and then endoscopy and then surgery time !! Amazing office staff amazing experience so far !

Hi Shannon! I haven't received my surgery date yet. I finish my BEND classes on Thursday so after that I'm hoping to get a at least a tentative date Then again I have to wait for insurance approval as well. I've had to do 6 months of bend classes, sleep study, psych eval, EKG testing and now waiting on endoscopy. How long have you been going through the process?

Congrats sweetie! I've had the scope, nutrition class and passed cardiac clearance. My university class and pre-op is on 9/9. I will start my liquid diet on 9/18 and surgery is 9/25. WLS is a policy exclusion on my insurance so I qualified for the MBA program. Let's keep in touch. Happy to give you some insight since I'm about month or so ahead of you. Thanks for the good luck wishes!

Hi Emma! Congrats sweetie on sticking with the process. My first visit to Dr. Kim was 7/9. I've had the scope, nutrition class and passed cardiac clearance. My university class and pre-op is on 9/9. I will start my liquid diet on 9/18 and surgery is 9/25. WLS is a policy exclusion on my insurance so I qualified for the MBA program so I didn't have to jump through the insurance required hoops per say. Let's keep in touch. Happy to give you some insight since I'm rather month ahead of you. Thanks for the good luck wishes!

Well finished my last BEND class today and will most likely not be scheduled until December. I'm a little discouraged today.

Sorry to hear that! It's a very busy place. I called them to get scheduled and glad I did because the lady said she had 80 patients to schedule. Hope the time flys by. One thing you get to Celebrate halloween and thanksgiving!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
