Had my food funeral today. Husband took me to Longhorns for a ribeye. Tomorrow starts pre-op diet and thus begins the countdown.

Thanks to all of you for your encouragement and support.

@@bestisyettocome859, you'll do just fine. Keep yourself busy so you don't think of food & remember it's sooooo worth it!

Btw, I love longhorn, especially their mac&cheese.

You'll have steak again. And the best part is, your next ribeye will provide three meals' worth of portions, taste delicious, and satisfy you on so much less. I'm not kidding!

I am 4 months out and have enjoyed my favorite restaurant meals... Or should I say, my portion of my husband's meals. lol. I find that I have no desire for carbs. We went to Longhorns for my grandsons baptism and there was a time when I devoured every piece of their bread I could get my hands on. It wasn't even a temptation.

That's amazing. My sweetie wants to loose about 40 lbs, so he's hoping that my healthy eating will help him too. We even joked last night that I'll be eating off his plate more often than not soon.

I am constantly telling my husband that I am a cheap date. I either share his meal or he gets all of the side dishes from mine and whatever I order usually amounts to about three or four meals for me.

I had my 6 month check up yesterday dr said I'm doing great! But I haven't exercised since mid March. I have COPD & Asthma. So in March I came down with Bronchitis, haven't been breathing good since then. But I'm down to 164, dr said 150-155 is his goal. I must be doing something right because I'm still loosing. I love it, a new me... My legs are gone and my boobs are gone still have some around the middle to lose. I just love my sleeve!

@@SimplySue Congrats on your progress that is awesome!! WOW! Curious are you eating the number of calories Dr. O'malley and team recommend? Liz at highland said I should be eating 1300-1500 calories which in my mind I think that is way too much. But I have been averaging around 900-1000 and only losing 1-2 pounds a week, which when I do the math (metabolic rate, calories in, calories out etc etc), I should be losing a lot more. Liz says to increase but when I do, nothing changes. Its a bit frustrating. Just curious since we have the same doc etc.

@@bestisyettocome859 Congrats and welcome!

Hi ladies! My surgery went extremely well and my surgeon was most pleased with my 2 week pre-op liquid diet loss of 16 lbs. He said my bypass surgery only took 2 hours. When the day nurse would ask what my pain level was on a scale of 1-10 it was never higher than a 2. That was until that evening when the night nurse had to “strip” my drain and it brought me to tears. It felt as though a major artery was being pulled straight out of my left collarbone. It even left me sore in that area. When she had to strip it again the next morning, I cried. I have a very high tolerance for pain but this was just unbearable. When the surgeon’s resident came in to remove the drain it only hurt for a minute. Never been so happy to see that thing gone! My surgery was at 8 a.m. on 4/21 and I went home at 6 pm 4/22. I slept from 11 pm – 7 am and woke with very minor soreness. I only took 2 oxycodones the whole day and have had one so far today. My blenderized diet totals for the day were calories-450, protein-52, fat-14 and carbs 22. Today my goal will be 60 grams of Protein which will be easy to achieve by drinking 2 Premier Protein shakes which have 30g each. They are my favorite and taste oh so delicious. My only challenge is taking my meds with applesauce because they taste so gross! I have a nerve condition which requires me to take 200mg of Lyrica and 800mg of Gabapentin 3 times per day. My surgeon also has me taking 20mg of Omeprazole for 90 days. I’ll be done with the Oxycodone after today, so that won’t be a problem. I just can’t believe how amazing I feel. I thought for sure I’d be miserable for several days so I feel VERY blessed. Thank you ladies for letting me stay here even though I was not “sleeved”. I look at it as we’ve all had WLS so we can all relate to one another. Now I need to take the time to go back and see who all is on here now. Congrats to everyone for doing so well and welcome to all the newbies!

You new sleevers are amazing! And great role models as well. I'm day 4 of pre-op diet and doing great. Getting used to having the right foods with me is going to be a challenge for me, but I can do it. Be sure not to o er do.

Over do.

@@beachgal2935, congratulations! So happy to hear you have minimal pain, that is such a blessing. Initially eating & drinking & getting the required Proteins in takes lots of planning but eventually you get a rhythm going. Continued success to you & you're right, regardless of the type of surgery we had the journey is similar.

@@bestisyettocome859 glad you're doing good w/the pre-op, that was my biggest challenge. So,I have no doubt you'll do fantastic with your sleeve!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.
