Saw cardiologist today, heart looks good. Have a chemical stress test on Monday and venous doppler. Doppler checks to see if clot is still there or if there are anymore. I still have the psych eval, hope I pass after getting all this other done. Then I am done !!

Best wishes on your surgery. Bring a book that you enjoy, if you like reading, sleep. Just do something to distract yourself. I agree flying is miserable but if you keep yourself busy hopefully the time will fly.

Hello everyone! I had my sleeve done in June 2014. It was the best thing that I've ever done. Since June, I've lost almost 40 lbs. Since I lost 30 lbs during the 6-month medical diet--I've lost 70 lbs this year! I'm 53 now--was 52 during the surgery. So glad this group is active! Can't wait to read the Queen's blog!

Just found out I'm allowed home made trail mix on my pre-op diet. No M&M's of course. Any recipe or ingredient suggestions?

Any other food suggestions would be great too. It seems my pre-op isn't liquid only,

Thanks

Hi all, just back from my nuclear stress test and Echo. The girl who did echo said it looks good, stress test on treadmill went good, only had to do 6 min on treadmill. Got my heart rate up fast, the stuff they put in your IV is awful. Metallic tasting, awful.

Now I have the last NUT visit with doctor on 15 th and I start 2 wk liquids that day also. Surgery still on line for Oct 27th.

Hi! So excited, I just found this "fifties" group of sleevers. I'm scheduled for Oct. 13. Started my 2 week pre-op liquid diet this past Monday. Had my surgery assessment today! 12 days, I can't believe it's so close now. For those of you that are still inquiring about Protein shakes; I found the "Rockin Refuel"to be really good. It has 30 grams of protein and I have one for Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Good luck to all of you!!!

Grammy, what does the camera look like that takes the pics on the chemical test. I had one a few years ago and I know I don't remember. Is this one that you lie down and the camera comes down close to your face ? I am claustrophobic and even though I can see it still puts me in panic mode. I don't remember lying down the other time. I can't do an MRI at all, even the open, freaks me out.

Kathy812, I'm doing well...I think. The liquid diet is not that bad. I think I want to chew something is my biggest problem. I did find out yesterday from my NUT that I could chew gum, which helps. Also, she said if I felt weak, I could eat a small amount of Protein. So far, I haven't had to do that! Amazingly, those shakes are pretty filling!

LainieG,

You lay on your back and this large square thing (camera) it's really big does come close to your face. It starts on your right side and it moves like 2 inches at a time. It comes up and over you down to your left side. I'm claustrophobic also with the MRI machine, but this one wasn't bad. You put your arms over your head and close your eyes! They do this test twice, during your time there.

Do you have to have this test before surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
