Favorite in Puree?

What's your favorite thing to eat in the puree stage? The idea of pureeing meat sounds disgusting.

I am not in the puréed stage yet that will probably begin next week. I agree puréed anything sounds disgusting to me. I don't know what I was thinking when I has this surgery. I have so many regrets. It's something new everyday. Pain, headaches, hating Protein, can't get fluids in, gas, nausea, more pain. I hope this gets better sooner rather than later.

I'm 14 days post-op today. So far, my favorite pureed foods are:

1. Light scrambled eggs -
1 jumbo egg, 2 tbsp. 2% small curd cottage cheese, 1/2 oz. cheddar cheese (grated) - whipped together and cooked in microwave at 15-second intervals, stirred after each interval, until done. Takes from 1 minute - 1.5 minutes total cooking time. (15 grams protein)

2. Refried Beans -
2 oz. Rosarita nonfat traditional refried Beans, 1/2 oz. cheddar cheese - cooked in microwave for 30 seconds, which is long enough to melt the cheese and heat the beans (7 grams protein)

I'm not focused on fitting in all my Protein with my early pureed foods, but just getting my new stomach used to actual food.

I look forward to pureeing some chicken soon and adding that (with some mild salsa) to my refried beans concoction.

I also eat Dannon Greek Oikos vanilla yogurt (12 grams Protein for 5.3 ounces) and drink a daily GNC Lean 25 Swiss chocolate (25 grams).

With these and other things I've been hitting my minimum prescribed 60 grams of protein since Day Five.

One step at a time. One day at a time. Don't have to be perfect. Just keep learning.

Here's another pureed dealio that worked well for me today:

3. pureed chicken in Campbell's Cream of chicken Soup
Combine in a small saucepan 1 can of Campbell's cream of chicken Soup and 1 can skim milk. Heat until warm. Separately, drain the Water from 1 can of chicken packed in Water (save the water and feed it to the cat :)). Pour 1/3 of the soup mixture into a soup cup and add 1.5 ounce of pureed chicken to the soup cup. (Save the remaining soup and pureed chicken for eating later.) Microwave the soup cup until the soup mixture is warm -- no longer than 30 seconds. (14 grams of protein)

Again, I'm not trying to get all my Protein now from pureed food, but am wanting to accustom my new stomach gradually to actual food.

Best wishes to all.

What equipment are y'all using for pureeing? Will a typical blender do?

@@Fox-E, I bought very small food processor -- holds about a cup or cup and a half of food.

It's perfect for me. Got it on Amazon.

(Am too tired to go look at the name of it right now -- will edit this post tomorrow.)

I enjoyed bean Soup and there was a veggy chili that was low in sodium. Cant think of the brand, but it wasnt inexpensive. Who cares when the can is good for a couple of meals.

Last night I made the family beef stroganoff. Pulled some aside before adding noodles and puréed that. So good! Texture of puréed is odd. But I so grateful to eat something not sweet.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
