Does the feeling of gas pass after a while you are drinking ? When I drink my Protein Shakes I can feel gas.... I burp and it goes away... Someone please tell me this is not forever. Last question.... Will I have to sip the rest of my life or will I be able to gulp.... I love in Florida and I have to drink my Water when I am hot.... These are things I never thought of asking....and is it forever without a straw? Thank you for all your support.

I am 7 wks out...I havnt sipped in a few wks..I drink normal but not gulping...ur tummy will let u no to slow down. If u feel the need to quinch a thirst then ur already dehydrated. .I no what heat does I lived in tx. For 20 yrs. Drink thru out the day.I take a drink with me every where I go (except bathroom unless I'm soaking) haha...an as far as straw issues. ..all surgeon are different. Mine explained to me that u get faster air pockets an it can stretch new baby tummy. For those reasons I'm not taking a chance. I don't even grab for one anymore. Others will say differently. But that's my protocol. ..best wishes..:)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
