Plateau's Somebody talk to me

Recommended Posts

That really is the most important part of being banded. That was the real difference for me. I always started eating junk whenever I hit a plateau

on any other diet. Not losing anyway, might as well eat. Stinkin thinkin.

There were so many times I didn't lose for weeks since I have been banded. Then all of a sudden, the scale would move and I would be so surprised because I wasn't expecting to drop 5 lbs in week. It was because I kept following the bandster rules, eating small portions, lots of Protein and veggies and didn't give up and eat junk when the scale didn't move.

You're right about this. I am a veteran dieter but I never had reactions to eating this way. Since the band, I sit at the same or a higher number for days even when i am doing everything right. It's very different than my previous diets.

It's like my body just doesn't want to give up the weight and I have to MAKE it. Previous diets I would lose a half pound ro a quarter pound but put it right back on.

With the band, the scale just stops and I don't lose but when I do it's a big jump. I also don't gain the weight back as easily too.

Something has definately changed in my body with the band. It's good and I have to just be patient- not one of my strong points in the past. But i'm working on it.

I just can't go back to not trying anyway. I am determined to get this weight problem solved. I'm sick of it and losing 41 pounds just isn't enough for me anymore. In the past, I would let up on my efforts when I felt a little better about my body but not anymore. My health problems demand that I get to an average weight.

thanks for your insight

Sadie

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
